What's with all the hate?
I'm getting this movie and I usually browse through it's boards here, and it's safe to say, I never seen a board with so much hatred towards the movie.
I'm confused, since it has very good critics.

All the negative criticism on this thread is longer than the movie....
shareMovie is completely overrated. It's a 6 at best. Paper thin premise with one cliche after another, and a score that doesn't fit at all. Performances weren't terrible, but the movie was just so melodramatic and soapy. The scenes with the son at school were straight up after-school special cheese. Really was expecting more.
shareI have the movie myself and I think I might watch it sometime, Viggo is a really good actor
sharePeople expected an action thriller. Instead they got a smart, deliberately paced character study/meditation on the ramifications of violence/neo-noir masterpiece. Bottom line: The film's detractors are whining because it's not a Steven Seagal movie. I would love to read their thoughts on NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN.

I think this is the only film that after the credits rolled I immediately watched it again, the second time with the commentary. Thought it was utterly brilliant in every way, the commentary too was great fun to listen too.
Not much of a review I know, but there we go :)
The movie was underwhelming for the content and plot it supposedly tried to convey.
For me though, the biggest letdown was William Hurt's smarmy performance which somehow garnered an Oscar nomination. His role was suppose to be the fulcrum that was pulling Viggo's character to the darkness he was trying so hard to stay away from. Instead, he seems to come fact to face with the man behind the green curtain. A big "So What?" is what I felt after that final scene.

This movie has a hit with critics and at the Cannes festival. You never know who is the idiot hating on the movie behind a keyboard or what movies he likes
If I don't reply, you're most likely on my ignore list
