Good Movie but a Creepy Actor

I just saw Catch and Release with my girlfriend this past weekend and we both liked the movie. Jennifer Garner as the lead played her role well and so did Kevin Smith, who I'd never seen play himself in anything else other than the Jay and Silent Bob flicks. Let me know if you agree with me on this, but I think Timothy Olyphant, who played the male lead opposite of Jennifer Garner, is a bit creepy looking, but I guess hes an ok actor. Aside from the creepy looking actor, any couple should enjoy this movie. So go see it.

I think he is a good actor, but i just think he could have maybe looked a bit more upset in certain scenes(he just looked like he was smiling through the whole movie) but maybe thats just what i saw..anywyas i think they picked the perfect actor for that part.

He definitely has a different acting style. If anyone has watched Deadwood you will know what I mean. I haven't seen this movie, but I believe I know what you are talking about. He has a very dry/rigid acting style.

reply

Acting style? I believe that's called CAN'T ACT AT ALL. This guy better take some serious acting classes before his career is over. He is cute. That's all he has got going for him. He didn't bring anything to the role at all. If he had done a great job acting, showing emotion, his goodness, a reason for her to like him, this movie might have been mediocre instead of absolutely terrible.

reply

I rented this movie only because I just saw Olyphant in Hitman. I can't say much for his acting, but his looks alone got me to rent two other flicks he's in

reply

He looks like the dude from seventh heaven...that Barry guy...

That's what she said...

reply

thats who i thought i was when i saw the previews....

he looks like him alot...

reply

Not creepy to me at all, the reason I saw the movie more than once. For fans of his, see Go, great movie with a big cast and his small part is funny. He also looks great in Perfect Getaway.

reply

Can't act??? Have you actually watched him in all of the different movies he has been in? He is always playing very different types of characters and does a great job at each of them...he will never have a problem being type-cast because he is so versatile (which is what makes him an amazing actor). I had seen him in several other movies but did not realize it was him because he brought such a different style and look to each of the roles. To me, that is what makes a truly great actor. He is amazing and will go far in his career (which really seems to be taking off...good for him!!)

I thought he was awesome and Hot

He didn't look upset because he wasn't that upset. Kinda a key point to the movie. He and Greydy were not really friends, just as Grey would soon learn that she and Greydy were never really in love. Fitz knew how shallow Greydy was, and Grey would soon find out too. Perhaps sleeping with some girl at the guys funeral was a little too far, but I too would have a hard time showing respect to a guy who couldn't show any respect himself.

reply

I agree with that, he was the guy we all know that "marches to the beat of a different drummer" He then seen how good a woman that Greydy was foolin around on and changed some what himself.

I saw the smile as cynical, especially when he leaves Gray in the storage place. It seemed to fit his character . . . cool on the outside. A lot of people act indifferent when they're uncomfortable or emotional.

reply

I am totally agree with you , Jennifer Garner is the best , but Timothy Olyphant looks strange with his role , anyway the movie looks good , nice flick .:)

His teeth are SO distracting! Anyone else notice this?

reply

Both my friend and I commented on the too white teeth. Also I think he looks to much like Billy Bob Thornton, whom I also find creepy.

reply

The whole movie all my friend and i could talk about was his teeth and his constantly awkward expressions. Even when he smiled and was trying to be happy he was still creepy. He kinda looks like a mix between Barry Watson and Josh Duhamel.

reply

I agree on the part about him being a mix of Barry and Josh. He's definitely not a bad looker, but aside from his teeth there's something about the way he looks at the camera or at whichever character he's with in a scene, it's weird. Kind of like he's jeering at us or something. Would make me uncomfortable if I was stuck in an elevator with him.

am i the only one who thinks he looks identical to barry watson?

reply

He's the bad guy in Live Free or Die Hard. He looks he'll be a good villan.

reply

he looks EXACTLY like barry watson!

reply

kevin smith played himself? i didn't realize his name was really sam...

reply

"Creepy"how he seemed to creep in and out of scenes. I think Jennifer just so overshadowed him that he seemed to just kinda slink around the movie. I heard that they cut a big portion of his background story and that could have explained his furtiveness.
I loved the movie and I love everything Jennifer's in. I know she will always give a solid performance.

Timothy Olyphant has always creeped me out. He's not an unattractive man, but yeah--just gives me the creeps. He reminds me of this guy I dated for about a month and half, which makes it even worse because that guy was extremely creepy!

So to sum up, Timothy Olyphant has a creepiness about him, which reminds me of the creepiness of that guy I dated. Timothy scores an 8 out of 10 for creepiness.

I like Timothy Olyphant a lot as an actor, I think his best performance was in a film called "Go".

I recomend it.

im so in shock lol, i LOVE timothy olyphant and do not find him creepy at all! ive actually always found him VERY attractive... very lol

anyhoo lol

i recommend the broken hearts club, such a good actor

I am with Flurbert. I love Timothy Olyphant, I am watching The Girl Next Door right now which is what made me find this thread. I do like him better as a sleeze ball though. Something sexy about it. I LOVED him in go and this movie. I liked Catch and Release alot but I did not like the way they made him look with the hair and he looked to tan, making his big smile look too white.
But all in all I LOVE HIM! I have not seen the broken hearts club but I will.

reply

Oh my god, I think he's SO hot. I don't find him creepy at all. Incredibly sexy. I loved him in this movie.

reply

I personally have started to really like his acting lately. When I saw him in "Go", I didn't really like him too much (perhaps because of his role in the movie). Then, I saw "The Broken Hearts Club" and was blown away by how he can fit into any role he plays. After I saw "Catch and Release" I came to the conclusion that I was totally wrong about him.

And what the hell is wrong with his neck? Why can't he move like a normal person?
