Was anyone else rooting for Gray/Dennis???

I actually thought it was going to end up that way. Something along the lines of a fling with Fritz but ending up with Dennis, the 'good guy'. I really wanted that to happen because Dennis was sooo sweet and nice, I mean, he threw the wine bottle and then went to pick up the pieces! That shows that he's a great guy! How many men would actually do that? And Fritz was a womanizer who didn't seem like he would last in a committed relationship unlike Dennis who seems pretty much perfect in every way! It doesn't make sense for Gray to lose the cheating fiance and move on with the soon-to-be-cheating friend. I was so disappointed about that...from the moment Dennis appeared on screen I was like OMG MARRY HIM HE'S THE BEST!!! lol

It's so weird - because I waited the entire film totally convinced that she and Dennis will end up together... I think Dennis truly loved her and they had a chemistry that I didn't really see with Fritz (what a horrible name too)... When Dennis told her "he is taken" it wasn't like "he was expecting her to be with him" - what he meant was "he gave his whole heart to Gray and couldn't love someone else"! I think they over-developed the character of Dennis if nothing happened in the end - his presence was just too strong to have such non-influence on the movie in general. I mean, his character added absolutely nothing to the story in the end - it would make sense if she loved both and had to decide... but she was clearly only interested in Fritz... and to "tease" us in thinking she might choose Dennis was just unnecessary! It would have been a nice movie if Gray was played by someone else (Jen didn't convince me in this role) as well as Fritz... who wasn't that interesting, really. The point I am trying to make is... that somehow I didn't really feel the chemistry between those two - except for the first kiss - but from then on it just seemed like a one-time thing... It sort of spoiled the movie for me - the lack of chemistry, I mean... and a nice guy (Dennis) that I felt sorry for in the end.

I actually was rooting for Gray/Dennis

Definately, from the moment Dennis attempted to cover her up when she passed out.He was better looking then Fritz. I couldn't imagine being with someone I saw having sex with another person...gross!

Dennis was definitely not better looking then Fritz! He was boring looking. A poor mans Aaron Eckhart. Not that I think Aarons good looking, but he's cooler.

To be honest, I thought Dennis was gay. The whole, covering her up, putting flowers in water, just being a general home maker, it all seemed very house-wifely and I thought that him being into her kind of ruined parts of the movie.

Fritz was hot. Did you see that body? I kept pausing and replaying him just putting his shirt on. God. And his acting was fantastic. That last scene where he's like "its less then nothing - right?" I just thought was so good. You could just tell that he could be very chilling.
Which isn't necessarily what you want in a lover actually, but whatever, he told her where to go.

Plus, it was all her. In every scene, she comes onto him. He wasn't trying nothin! He was really gentlemanly, if you think about it.

I'm delightfully mad!

I couldn't root for Fritz at all. He was getting women left right and centre. What's special about him getting another girl. All that does is make us hate him more out of jealousy. If you're going to have a romantic lead who's not likeable please don't have a really likeable guy like Dennis be in love with her. That just makes me mad at the injustice.

Dennis was a sissy housewife, 'nuff said.

I wasn't really rooting for either one, but I didn't think Fritz was a bad guy. He was just dealing with the loss of his best friend in a really mucked up way.

After he had sex with the caterer, he looked at himself in the mirror like, "What am I doing? Who are you?"

That's when I realized that it was more than just about having sex.

I never wanted her to end up with Fritz. He was just too much of an a-hole to me. I was hoping for Dennis up until he said that thing at the River about always loving her. It came off as obsession and that is usually a turn off to most females. So once he did that I knew he lost out.

I wanted Gray to end up with Dennis too, but I didn't think he was the perfect man. He threw fits when he was upset. He did seem kind of like a wuss. But he had a lot of great qualities that would make him a wonderful husband and partner. He was loyal and caring and sweet and faithful and he adored Gray. It's sad that people see men who take care of someone and do housework as gay. No, that's a REAL man.

I really didn't want Gray to end up with Fritz because their relationships seemed so forced and fake. There was just no chemistry. It was one of those romances where it was supposed to happen, so it did. Fritz was disgusting, a liar, a womanizer and clearly a poorly developed character. He seemed like a cad in the beginning, but then magically transformed into this sweet and loyal guy...although he honestly still seemed like a cad to me. I would never go for him. Ew. Dennis is a keeper.

Dennis behaved like a creepy stalker. It felt like he was trying to set Gray up to fall in love with him, but couldn't quite be honest with her about his motivations.

Your reasoning that a man throws a wine bottle and then goes to pick up the pieces, and this makes him a good guy? I beg to differ. A good guy would not have thrown the bottle in the first place.

There is also nothing perfect about a guy who keeps one woman (Persephone) dangling while he tries to get off with the woman he thinks he really wants (Gray).

Having been on the receiving end of that particular scenario, I can tell you that it sucks. I think it was quite clear that Gray saw through his creepy stalker act and tried to let him down gently. So he reacts like a petulant child and planes the front door down to a semi-circle. Now that was truly weird. And all because he didn't get Gray. Not a balanced reaction.

I dont think Fritz was a womanizer, I think, like someone said before, he was dealing with his friend's death in a f**ed up way.
And i think he was hot, the way he looked at her made me all swoony. Dennis was nice, and I think Gray would have been bored to tears with him in no time.

Of course, bananas are far more interesting.

No way! The guy was creepy. First of all, it was obvious that he was trying to move on her as soon as her fiancé was in the ground. On top of that, he was boring and needy. At least Fritz was caring and protective of her. He showed no interest in taking advantage of her in her state like Dennis. It was just natural for Gray's and Fritz's relationship to evolve; nothing like with Dennis who was trying to steer it that way. There is a difference between being nice just to be nice and being nice with an agenda.

If you recall, when Gray kissed Fritz (she did make the first move) and he responded, he obviously felt bad about it and left. He noticed the look of confusion on her face so he didn't say a word when leaving; giving her space. When she later tried to bring up what happened between them, still realizing she was uncomfortable about it, he pretty much signaled that she didn't need to worry about it. He didn't force anything and acted like someone who really cared about her feelings.

He even tried to take care of the deceased fiancé's son's mother with his own money.

He kept his distance and you could see that he saw her in a new light when she confessed to all the things Grady never knew about her. Any feelings he had for her at that point were just confirmed. She then comes to him in the middle of the night.

Dennis just played the lovelorn guy who just didn't have any chemistry with her. Kind of a wimp.

He put down what she had said about fish and then criticized her deceased fiancé. When she tells him that she does love him but not in the way he wants, he says "that's great" in a condescending way and walks away. What a jerk.....he shows absolutely no regard for her feelings.

Returning to the house later, Dennis stomps off into the house (not helping to unload the car) like a spoiled little boy who didn't get his way. He pouts and acts likes an immature child complaining that she should have told him she was in love with someone else. Why should she and what business is it of his?

I just felt bad for Fritz when he overheard Gray tell Dennis that she didn't love him and that what they were having was "nothing...even less than nothing". He obviously was in love with her and she just dismissed him. Again, showing his concern for her feelings and situation he leaves, letting HER off the hook as far as their relationship was concerned since he obviously thought she didn't love him.

I'm glad Fritz and Gray ended up together. After all, she packed up and drove to him realizing for herself that he was the kind of "Man" she wanted, not a wuss like Dennis.
