I actually thought it was going to end up that way. Something along the lines of a fling with Fritz but ending up with Dennis, the 'good guy'. I really wanted that to happen because Dennis was sooo sweet and nice, I mean, he threw the wine bottle and then went to pick up the pieces! That shows that he's a great guy! How many men would actually do that? And Fritz was a womanizer who didn't seem like he would last in a committed relationship unlike Dennis who seems pretty much perfect in every way! It doesn't make sense for Gray to lose the cheating fiance and move on with the soon-to-be-cheating friend. I was so disappointed about that...from the moment Dennis appeared on screen I was like OMG MARRY HIM HE'S THE BEST!!! lol
"I was thinking BOB MARLEY!!! YEAH!!!" ~Jason Castro
I'm glad I'M not the only one who waited expectantly for Gray to fall for Dennis! He was a great guy, responsible, loyal, and loving. But, no! She chooses the bad boy, a womanizing cad who slept with the wedding caterer on the day of his best friend's funeral! There was absolutely no depth to his character. Choosing Dennis would have been less predictable and more romantic.
I actually think there was alot of depth to Fritz. It's like Gray said, he's not who she thought he was and vice versa. You see him at first as this womanizer but he explained to Gray he just didn't want to be there and therefore the sex was sort of an escapism imo. I really think they brought out the best of themselves in one another.I think Fritz was still waiting for that one person and Gray found out she could love again. But I respect everyone's opinions who think otherwise.
I'm with you completely, that's what I was trying to say, I kinda think Dennis is a jerk....and act's like a fricken baby, I couldn't stand him from the beginning, he had a couple nice quality's but basically he would be a bore to be married too!!!!
I disagree, Fritz was the last person Gray ever thought she would be attracted to and when she falls for him it shows how love is involuntary and cannot be stopped. To her, it would make more sense to fall for Dennis because he is the right guy on paper but even thought he is responsible and loyal and loving, she isn't drawn to him which is why the story is more romantic.
As nice as Dennis was, it isn't who Gray needed in her life. This is pretty much summed up in the scene where Maureen is leaving the house for the first time and is talking to Fritz. She states that Grady always seemed so goofy because Gray was so perfect. When Grady went to L.A., it was like he got let loose and didn't have to be on his best behavior.
Gray was obviously not happy with the way she was, she was the "safe" version of herself. Being with Dennis would have just been a "safe" option. She wouldn't be taking chances. However, with Fritz, everything is out on the table with him. She thought it was that way with Grady, but he had secrets and didn't even tell her.
Not only that, but Fritz would help the side of her that wants to come out, the wilder side (like the hints of wildness she divulged at the Chakra clearing dinner). Dennis would not make her freer, he would make her more imprisoned because then she would feel the need to be on the best behavior for him.
I was about to say it but I don't think I need too. You said it much clearer than I did. Also she "grew up" with Dennis and Kevin Smith's character. It would have been clashy and something wrong to divulge into a different friendship there.
I thought Fritz was really weird and he would always stare, but not penetratingly, just creepily. Didn't see him and Gray together at all, but I think that's because his role wasn't played well.
OMG I hated Dennis, I'm sorry but I thought that was pretty ignorant putting her in that position at the lake,,first of all when she say's "are you available?" and he said NO like what he already assumed they would be together, OOY that bothered me so much...and then how he got so jealous when he saw them holding hands, he's like "I'm a Big Boy, I can take it" What? If he could take it he wouldn't have said anything in the first place..... and how is Fritz the soon-to-be-cheating friend? Dennis was way closer to Grady, that seemed like he was in love with Gray the whole time, even when he was alive, you just don't harbor feelings like that for your business partner and your best friends soon-to-be wife. ya know??? It makes me think, what was he starring and fantasing about her all the time. I know it's just a movie and please don't take me literally, or like I'm being a b-itch....I just like Fritz and if you have ever been to a funeral, well living in Chicago it's not that weird for people to mourn that way, drink a lot and have sex like that...it's hard to explain, people mourn differently, and he looked like he was upset with himself in the mirror right afterwards......oh one more thing lol...if Dennis was so nice he should have ran after perstephanoe or what ever the hell that broads name was, there's a lot of weird names in this movie....
lol,,,your right, I got in on netflix first and liked it so much, it just has one of the comforting feelings to it, some movies just have that....but yeah then I went and bought it,,so YES I do like it a lot...and I like that Timothy O. as well :D cheers
Amen to that. I was really hoping they'd end up together. I was always glancing at the remaining film running time, hoping something would happen between Dennis and Gray.
I just wasn't drawn to Fritz.. maybe it's the guy's acting, really.
Dennis was a great character. Too bad, he never got the girl, even after the second time around.
omg, YES!!! At first, I thought Fritz was just some assh*le but then he grew on me to become a not so assh*ole-ish dude. I dunno. Maybe it's because he kinda looks like Shane West and who doesn't love Shane West? Actually, I think Shane West would of made a good Fritz. Eh, maybe not. xD
Anywhoooooo, haha. Dennis was cute, charming, and sweet straight off the bat. I liked him more than Fritz who just seemed lost a lot of the time. Like a poster said before, maybe it was the actor but I thought Dennis would of been wayyy cuter with Gray.
