Did anyone else besides me like this movie?

I thought 30 Days of Night was the best vampire movie I ever seen. Part 2 sucked ass!

I'm not sure whether I think it's the best vampire film ever made, but I still love it. It's nice to see vampires as they're supposed to be: evil monsters, not romantic heroes.

It wasn't my favorite vampire movie but I still liked it. I agree, that is what vampires should be, monsters.

I loved this movie but as far as the best I'm not sure . . . My favorite in order are:

1) The Lost Boys
2) From Dusk til Dawn
3) 30 Days of Night tied with Blade
4) The rest of the Blade franchise

Well, fav Vampire flic? That's a hard one because for me there are a few good ones out there if you know what you're looking for..such as;

Roman Polanski's 1967 "Fearless Vampire Killers".
or
Robert Young's 1972 "Vampire Circus".

There's also "Nosferatu" (1922 silent) or Dracula (1958 with Christopher Lee - which was a Hammer film). Most however are romantic horrors including Lugosi's version from 1931. It seems quite difficult to find a plain vampire flick.

There's also "Vamp" from '86 or the original "Fright Night" in '85 but they're pretty campy. I liked them but they're not for everyone.

Now, there's also "Near Dark" with Bill Paxton and Lance Henriksen but there is a little bit of a romantic flavor to it but it's not too focused on....any more you would like to know. I have a lot.

Sad thing, I own these films. Took time to collect but I have 'em and so many more.

i just got done watching it. it was a lot better than i expected. got it in a 2 pack set for $13.

i liked the setting though i felt like ive seen that scenario many times before. the characters were alright. first time ive seen Hartnett play a heroic lead. i always enjoy seeing the b-movies Melissa George is in, which is why i gave this one a view.

i think i just find filmmakers lazy, cause most films i find have the drama and tension so underplayed. so i think this movie could have been epic and much more captivating. especially with its runtime..youd just expect thered be more to it. the final battle was also a bit anti-climactic. i assumed since Hartnett was now one of the vampires, that id see this badass fight scene take place...but nope.. he got his butt kicked and then took the main vampire out with one hit... -_-

but all in all i wasnt too dissapointed. it was entertaining and didnt lose my attention much.

going to watch the sequel sometime tomorrow maybe. i see that they recast Stella..so not sure how thatll go over for me.

I totally agree with you yet I think the vampires shouldnt be approached by such a close look from the audience. We shouldn't be able to know what they say and have the dialogues translated and we should have the same perception the characters do and be able to, depending on how the plot build is built, get to learn the same things they do. I think the best movies is when we the audience do not know anything beyond the characters' possibility of knowledge, it makes the action more intense. If the vampires had been a bit more mysterious and needed deciphering it would have been way better.
But as it is, I adore movies about survival (zombies/infected/vampires) and I found this of some incredible quality. The cast was very good and the subtlety of the vampires travelling by ship displayed in the beginning was amazing.

I LOVED this movie, it's awesome, badass and the vampires are ruthless killing machines. That being said, Blade 1 & 2 were some of the BEST vampire movies I have ever seen. This is very close though.

I totally agree with you. One of the few "scary" movies in the last ten years to really scare me.

I thought it was quite enjoyable. I loved the atmosphere and sense of isolation in this story.

I thought it was excellent, scary and a lot of fun. I don't engage in best/worst discussions, but definitely one of my favorite two or three vampire flicks.

omg this movie sucked. you guys are all on stupid pills

I thought it sucked. Of course, no one is required to agree with me.

I thought this movie was above average until its conclusion. The whole confrontation and "fisting" the vampire in the mouth was borderline ridiculous. It felt really rushed.
