I've only been watching this show for about a year but I have watched pretty much every episode now, right up to the latest. At the beginning I thought it was hilarious because their conflicts were believable but now everything is geared towards another Kenny win and just seems contrived. Now it makes me think it was always fake which kinda takes away the humour for me. Is it real? Fake?
shareI think the show is real. If you watch season 6 extras, Spenny has a major meltdown. There were times I thought the show was fake, but after I saw his meltdown about his bringing a little suitcase with him at all times and the things he carries in his suitcase and bringing his whole lunch, it kind of changed my mind. Spenny seems to be the type of person that really wants acceptance in his life and he seems to have a hard time dealing with people liking him and he seems to have a hard time accepting himself. If you watch the extras part of 6 and watch his meltdown you will see what I'm talking about. He seems to need to justify to himself that its not weird for a guy to bring his own lunch places and that its not weird that he carries around a bag of makeup and other items.
Maybe some *beep* is fake, but I would say a majority of it is real. Maybe it's all fake and Spenny is just an amazing actor and writer, I doubt it though.
Whilst it's already been discussed, imma just put in my thoughts.
At first I thought it was real (being the first episode) totally realistic but throughout the seasons it started getting a little fake for me i.e. the rapper episode I felt was really faked. Someone said why would they film the cops shoes? (unless spenny signaled) but I just thought the ending looked very pre-written. The gay guy one where Spenny kissed the guy I felt was pre-written as well as a bunch of other things HOWEVER I have watched some recent episodes (just watched the meat one) and made me think it was real again. Who would go through all of that i.e. kenny's puking for like 1 hour? There are some serious health risks in the games and also games that can not be controlled by them i.e. animals (the rat race).
In conclusion I think it was a bit of both. I'm believing right now that most of it is real though...
It depends on your definition of "real". Obviously, there are real aspects to it, and fake, as with any reality tv show. It's reality because the people shown in it are not acting as a fictional character. The competitions are real, when Spenny's drunk, he's definitely drunk. The humiliations seem real and hilarious (my favourite was Spenny smoking the crews' hair). There are some fake aspects to it, like kenny giving spenny radiation poisoning (Spenny would have surface burns on his skin if he had been given that high of a dose of radiation). Or taping scenes after a competition and putting them in the final cut.
There's never going to be a show that's 100% real unless it's live TV.
