Did you feel sorry for Andy?

When Andy illegibly tries to rape her again in the janitors closet did you feel bad when she basically blinded him? I know what he did was terrible and he was abusing her but she could deff damage him forever...i felt bad even though what he did was HORRIBLEEEEE

what do you think?

Uhm, yes, I would definitely take blindness over being raped... Would you prefer to be raped? Perhaps you can arrange a date with Andy.

I don't understand you all. If you would need to choose between being raped once or lose sight for the rest of your life, would you really choose blindless? Really??

This isn't about comparing being blinded with being raped. It's about a rapist cornering his victim who fought back in self defence. We don't feel sorry for him not because blindness is better than rape and frankly I can't see where you got such a horribly misguided idea from.

People don't feel sorry for Andy because he is a rapist and she was acting in self defence. He is a horrible person who deserved to be punished, and she was entitled to defend herself from him. That he got blinded (temporarily?) as a result of his own actions is simply poetic justice. It's absolutely incomparable to some random person becoming blinded through no fault of his own.

If someone broke into your home and started trying to kill you by bashing your skull in with a baseball bat, would you feel sorry for the would be murderer if you happened to have a gun in your hands and shot him? Of course not. It's self defence, not rocket science.

Only a moron or someone who is a rapist themselves would feel sorry for that loser. If you had a daughter and someone did that to her, what would you do hug her attacker? Use your tiny brain before you type stuff like that.

I think more than a rapist problem, there's a line of communication between genders that needs to be open. Let's face it, in most cases in life a male is going to be raping a female. The only thing that even comes close is a grown woman having sex with an underage boy, and even then in society people act like that's ok.

In the human population, males are much more likely to be driven by strong, high levels of sexual biological urges. Testosterone plays a huge factor in this. It should be required that all males be taught before the age of puberty, when all the testosterone levels kick in that all human life must be respected.

I think the root of the problem is all of us guys must learn is that the well-being and mental stability of other people outweighs the satisfaction of our own sexual urges. But these urges are so strong, what is needed is techniques for us to handle them. So we need to redirect what guys do, so they don't betray the trust of others and do this by changing the behavior, and not destroy the person. We shouldn't have to ruin the man, it's about educating him on properly handling the urges. So that he does not betray the trust or take advantage of another human life.

We need an environment where we can speak freely about our sexual needs, because ladies, speaking as a guy I can say you physically feel like you're being ripped apart when those urges kick in and we have seen the effects on victims when they think a guy has all good intentions just because he's being nice towards them.

It should be a prerequisite for boys to learn how to handle these feelings and most importantly WHY. Because as everyone here says, victims never get over these attacks and they never stop having nightmares about it. That's why it's so important that these guys learn what their sexual exploits does to victims before another life is ruined.

Whatever techniques could be used to relieve the urges; exercise, cold showers, long jogs, self-satisfaction it should be taught to everyone, the reason I say this is because females could also benefit from knowing what males go through biologically so they can protect themselves next time any guy expresses the interest in being alone with them.

And ladies, it really makes me so sad that so many of you have to go through this. On behalf of the male population I want to apologize for all of us for being the beasts and pigs that we often act like.I feel sorry for the wives of these powerful leaders who took advantage of their power to cheat on their wives; John Edwards, Bill Clinton, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Because these guys couldn't control their urges all of these women are publicly humiliated in front of everyone because no one is being truthful in society that us men have overwhelming urges that more often that not land us in hot water with our significant others and the law.

There should be a public campaign to address this and strong methods put in place that all males can use so that all women in society can be respected and feel happy, free and safe. I don't know how this can be done, but hopefully over the course of time this can be a movement that can help everyone in society live a better life. Because currently, the endless bashing of these guys only makes it look like a handful of psychos can't control their urges, when in reality it goes a lot deeper than that.

Maybe if everyone who reads this shares it with their boyfriends, brothers, husbands, sons, etc and start an open dialogue, and don't let them shrug it off like it's nothing could help. If it became a huge media campaign we could change how this problem is handled at it's core, before any girl becomes another victim. Because treating the sexual problem protects the victims, bashing the men doesn't seem to be working too well right now.

I think it is interesting the OP felt bad because when that happened, I was hoping he would be blinded for life. He was a piece of *beep* and deserved to suffer for what he did to her. And then for him to attack her again? Like seriously? Scum of the earth

On one hand, a guy gets blinded - severe physical injury. You have been crippled for life, with all implications that follow and I do not want to describe here.

On the other hand, a girl gets raped in obscure circumstances - at a party, using alcohol. Don't get me wrong - rape is something terrible, and rapists do get what is coming their way - in prison. He did not kidnap her and keep her in a basement for 1 year.

In my personal opinion, Andy shouldn't have been blinded in the film (I learned from the comments that this does not happen in the book). It was passed out as a accident in self defense, but I feel this has something to do with the director being a woman.

I find not only that being blinded is a lot worse than getting raped, but I also disapprove of the eye-for-an-eye method.

FELT SORRY FOR HIM??????

rape is the worst thing that can happen to a woman, i am sorry to tell you that it is something YOU NEVER COME BACK FROM!
all rapists should DIE if you ask me, for killing a living soul.
if you think a girl can still be normall after that, even if she isnt phisically damaged, you are a fool and an ignorant.

reply

Rape damages people forever a lot worse than blindness. Rapists should be put to death, they serve no useful purpose.
