I love this movie with a strong passion and everytime I watch it I choke up at the scene when Melinda shows Mr. Freeman all the tree artwork shes worked on over the course of the year. It just makes me happy and sad at the sametime especially when Mr. Freeman starts to tear up. Anyone else feel like this whenever they watch a certain scene in Speak??

yes, that part always gets me. it's so heartbreaking. this is one of the few movies that truly moves me. i thought kristen's performance was absolutely amazing, esp for how young she was at the time. the emotion she portrays in it is almost palpable.
shareI teared up when she showed him all the artwork she did in the closet as well. She waits expectantly, watching him while he is simply stunned. He finally says, "It's good," and her face simply lights up. Excellent acting by both of them.

for example the art part already mentioned by you guys... and also at the end when she finally decides to actually SPEAK and tells her mom everything. and some other parts i can not recall exactly, but that have to do with the fact that she seemed so depressed and just like an empty shell... it was kinda sad... it kinda touched me in a certain way =/
ok, i actually did cry in the art scene when she finally smiles after her teacher almost cries looking at all her art paintings. watching her smile after a whole movie of depression and frustration was really really touching =/

I didn't cry during this part but I don't why I felt such emotion when I saw the flashback of her and her father picking that apple from the tree. I thought it was really sweet.

Ive cried in all of the scenes you guys have mentioned and another scene that always touches me is the opening scene,the exact moment after she draw the lines in her lips and she looks at herself in the mirror while the title appears,the look in her face even gives me chills you practically see the way shes feeling

shareI remember seeing this movie at least 4 years ago on tv and it really stuck with me. You know one of those movies that you keeps thinking about for months after seeing it. I recently got a copy of the film and have watched it 3 times since then. It is definatly a movie that I can watch again and again. Of course the content is hard to deal with but it is the genuine performances and strong interpretation from novel to movie that i adore. Kristen's performance was truly amazing and authentic for her age when the movie was filmed. The most moving parts that seem to get me everytime is the part mentioned by other people when she is walking down the hallway at school after Andy has tried to attack her again in the ganitor's closet. Additionally the scene where she is having flashbacks to the immediate time after she is raped where she screams. It is truly chilling, my hair stands on end and my eyes well everytime i hear that scream. Moving and amazing film!

I always cry at the part in the end when she's walking down the hallway. I love that scene! And I don't stop crying until the movie over (the scene in the car is gr8, too).
shareI teared up a bit during a couple different scenes, but when she's walking down the hallway and the hardass teacher asks Melinda, by her first name, what's wrong, that combined with the blankly horrified look on her face made me sob. I had to pause the movie because I couldn't see properly. xD I will note that I almost never cry during movies, beyond that vague "Well sht, that's sad" feeling.
