Great movie but could have been explained better so i would say definetly see it.
Congratulations, you're all wrong and under the age of 17.
Couldn't have missed more. It's a shame to consider what it costs to make a film nowadays and how this money could have been better spent.
under the age of 17? go to hell you jackass i saw this movie and i didnt like it ok. and how dare you say the money could have been better spent its a filmmakers choice on how the money should be spent it probably gave alot of crew members jobs.
Could have been better, but nevertheless worth checking out.

Hit.
shareHmm, I thought it was a big fat miss.
It had a lot of elements that I don't ever really gelled or added up to much.
Serious miss. Spent a long time with practically no action and then tried to give you the entire back story in 30 seconds flat. Not a great load of dialogue either.
I'd rather be happy than right, any day - Slartibartfast
MISS!
"Frankenstein was creator, not the monster.A common misconception held by all truly stupid people"
A big fat juicy hit. Didn't think much at first but it stuck in the brain, so I watched it again. And again. And then again. Have now seen it about 20 to 25 times, I dunno I've lost count. Not sarcastic either, I have really seen it that many times, though some of it was just to try to work out how the rooms in the house fitted together.
shareI vote for hit.
It was amazing.
Also, how many horror films take place around the Civil War era?
It was at least 2X better than like... Land of the Dead or the remake of Dawn of the Dead with friggin running zombies.
MISS
Worth seeing if you have a bit of time to kill. Otherwise, the film was undone by a nonsensical and uninteresting script, the only merit of which is that this particular horror tale takes place during the Civil War. Some excellent actors were assembled and then completely wasted, though they do what they can with the little that the story has to offer. The direction is very pedestrian, exhibiting next to no skill or imagination. Most of the shocks are completely predictable and derivative. Apart from a few of the actors (who, as I said, are pretty much wasted) the only other merits that this forgettable film has is some sharply defined and menacing photography, some well chosen locations, and a music score that is at times extremely disquieting, at others in keeping with the lame shock-effects that plague the latter half of the film. The sound is fairly impressive, though the demonic voices and mysterious whispers schtick is both overdone and overfamiliar. The "creature" was reasonably well done, by a nonsensical and overdone plot device that is decidely not scarey.
1 and a half stars.
you said it was great, yet you say you didnt like it. what the hell?
it was a miss. i really dont know what to say. boring. no scares. bad ending. i cant even remember the story. i cant help but ask why people think this is a good film. i mean, it looked cool from the back cover, but it ended up not having much to it.

How about you give your opinion WITHOUT insulting people. That would be awesome.
And nobody here is right OR wrong: It's all OPINION! Your OPINION is NOT fact, Jackass
i think this is just a "meh"
i watched tons of horror movies (features, indie, ecc) im still into the idea this is just meh
i enjoyed "the burrowers" way more, i highly suggest it, it's a western-horror like this
I would never in a million years call this brilliant, but it's pretty entertaining if you have nothing else to watch. If you're a horror fan who doesn't expect so who doesn't have high expectation when watching HFs, then you should watch. It was okay.
I'm surrounded by idiots. ....literally.
I'd say it's a hit.
Put this in your signature if you are an atheist and not afraid to say it.
Ah, this one falls right in the middle for me. I'd say it's a miss, but worth seeing if you have the patience. So many good ingredients, but the chef couldn't combine them into a tasty dish.

the story is a common one but the way it was done was rather interesting.
there aint many horror films which stuck in my memory but this one did and it took a while for me to track down, after seeing a poor version which was scratched to hell making 80% of the movie unviewable.
and to add to the appeal of the film how many lower budget horror films just turned out to be garbage slasher fests *yawn*
anyway ima off topic
Fear is the mind killer, i thought it was TV.
I vote yes too!
I just finished watching this on TMC tonight thinking it would just be another cheap horror flick, but it caught me off guard! It's like a classic ghost story with plenty of suspense and almost a Hitchcock-like ending (no spoiler). Not to mention that music score was quite eerie.
"Dead Birds" stands out from all the other dumb horror movies circulating. I mean, it actually has good acting!
If you're sick of all the new horror movies with cheap FX, overdone gore, bad acting, and crappy emo music, check this one out. It's a HIT!

A definate MISS. Good premise but poorly executed. It needed a much better script.
shareMISS, MISS, MISS. Under 17 by the way, to the earlier post :)

Last movie seen: Feast - 6/10
Personally, I'd say hit.
I liked the fact that it wasn't all laid out for you and the final scenes leave you thinking about what actually happened.
Personally, I like movies that don't spoon-feed every moment and the whole backstory to you. It's a lot scarier and puts you on the same level as the characters, who are floundering around in fear wondering what's going on just like you are.
It's one of my favs - up there with Session 9 and Cube - more movies where I feel like, in the end, you kind of understand what happened but there are still some questions in your mind.
(Oh, and I'm well over 17...and very aware that this is only my opinion. I'm glad the money wasn't wasted on some cheap zombie flick where you know exactly what's happening because it's the same thing that happened in the last 100 zombie movies made.)
Hit. And even for watching it more than once. After reading this board, I am going to rent it and watch it for a 3rd time and catch what I missed. It is sensory overload.
