Is it a mistake to cast a fake deaf woman?

That just seems waaay too risky.
All it would take it one slip up to ruin the whole thing. They've shown some clips of her breaking character and he even asked her if she heard him.

She's funny and is a good actor, but I think for the sake of the show, they may need to get rid of her soon.

Nah, her being found out wouldn't be a show-breaker. All she has to do is claim that she was faking the disability to gain sympathy or something. I'm not sure it would even be the first time something like that happened on a reality show.

reply

Being risky is why it's fun to watch. The point of this show is for them to get as ridiculous as possible while this guy still believes he's on a real show. Plus the random sh*t she does is freakin hilarious.

Isn't she the one who jumped, when they uncorked the champagne? (I didn't see the whole show)

she covered her ears. I guess they didn't really reherse that part all the way thru with a real bottle; otherwise she'd be prepared for it.

when the vest exploded, she didn't flinch at all.

reply

i think they do this on purpose to make it riskier, also having the same host for all three seasons is risking it as well....ok the whole thing is crazy but its brilliant

A buddy and I were in tears laughing so hard after Lorenzo Lamas showed up and she said, "maybe David Hasselhoff is next".
And a ventriloquist?LMAO

reply

It's incredibly offensive, but she does it so well that it's hilarious. I love it that she's reacting as if she can hear - that makes it all the more funny.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

And it's fun to make fun of the hearing impaired!

Anyone know if she and the interpreter are using correct ASL?

She seems to either sign wrong on purpose to mock the language or shes just too lazy and ignorant to learn the right signs.

reply

Because this is a comedy reality TV, its hard to tell if she is slipping up on purpose because of the cut scenes where she is like... apologizing, and her heart is dropping to her toes? Or is she actually slipping so I'm like ~ dude she can't be that great of an actor if she keeps forgetting she's suppose to be deaf. It's like every idiot with a camera on their phones on Youtube doing reality TV are doing a much better job at it than she is, or is it all fake including her slip-ups regardless of the cut scenes... hmmm.

I used to work at a day care for deaf children and used to be fluent.

I am rusty now but occasionally saw a word or two that I recognised.

reply

The interpreter is. They haven't shown her singing for longer than a sentence for me to catch if she's actually signing real ASL, but from what I've seen so far, it looks like she just knows very basic signs.

reply

It would be 1 thing if the mistakes she made were rare, but she screws up at least once or twice per episode...Jumping at the cork; hearing him when she was exercising; making mistakes during the sign language(which someone else pointed out); and the recent thing where she broke character and couldn't stop laughing(in fact, I thought of another one...when she was exercising, she replied to Chase in her regular voice, albeit briefly)...

As cute as she is, they should rewrite the script to "reveal" that she lied to producers about being deaf, get her out of there, and maybe re-write Lorenzo Lamas back in briefly. His couple of episodes were comic gold. Heck, maybe reveal that she was using the show to hide out, and that she is some kind of fugitive as well.

reply

I've been wondering how she is supposed to be able to sing the Wentworth song at the correct pitch, having never heard what pitch is.

reply

I want her to stay for one reason and that's to continue seeing those random shots of her ventriloquist dummy in the montage of shots that precede the Hunter to Hunted voting session. The OTT dramatic music makes it even funnier.

No! I am the one who knocks!

reply

I think she's hot. But if the big reveal at the end is she's not deaf and the whole show is fake, that's lame. The guy already suspects both.

reply

Can someone tell me what Karlee said to Stan after he said "I love you" ? I replayed it twice but still couldn't tell for sure. It sounded like either "I know" or "Umm, no".

thanks.

reply

She pretty much said Ummm...No.

reply

I thought she said "I know."
