Other beautiful movies?

I thought this movie was intensely beautiful. What other beautiful movies do you recommend?

HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS
CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON

"Fuggedabout Joe the Plumber, what about Don the Jeweler?".

reply

Whaaaaaat?! I can't believe nobody mentioned All About Lily Chou-Chou (www.imdb.com/title/tt0297721/). It is the most beautiful movie I have ever seen. All of Shunji Iwai's movies are incredibly visually stunning.

Agreed that Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall and Spring is one of the most visually aesthetic movies I have ever seen.

Another that hasn't been mentioned as of yet by all of the commentors; The Fall http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0460791/

Amazing film. I love the story as well, and the young actress ... F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C.

And as so many of my favorites have already been mentioned ... I will also add; "What Dreams May Come" although I couldn't watch this one ... the premise is unbelievably sad. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120889/

Fearless - Jet Li with a phenomenal story http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0446059/

Sunshine http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0448134/ SciFi but pretty cool

The Cell http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0209958/ same director did the Fall, but this is visually stunning in a disturbing sense ... but the visuals seriously MAKE this movie!

Run Lola Run http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0130827/ different, stunning with cinematography and great story! Truly awesome

Sex and Lucia http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0254455/ all around great flick ... beautiful in so many scenes; also a bit off ... but spectacular.

Dark City - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118929/

Lawrence of Arabia http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056172/ okay WOW! Peter O'Tooles' blue eyes .. well (shivers) makes this movie even more stunning.

City of Lost Children http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112682/ - dark and disturbing and visually amazing.

My most favorite movie from the 80's ... the demon; the creatures; the unicorn; Mia Sara and a very young Tom Cruise make "Legend" a fantasy love story that appeals to all of the senses. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089469/

And one of my favorites, but a bit disturbing and could be off-putting to some people ... The Pillow Book http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114134/

Before she was in The DaVinci Code, Audrey Tautou was amazing in both Amelie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0211915/ and A Very Long Engagement http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0344510/

Like Water for Chocolate http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103994/ and Cinema Paradiso http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095765/

(ps. my quote below ... Is from Wings of Desire - already mentioned, I know but so gorgeous ... can you believe Hollywood jacked this one up with City of Angles.

Enjoy.

How can it be that I...didn't exist before...and...someday, I...will no longer be who I am?

reply

ugh!

Forgot one ... if you haven't seen "Let the Right One In" then SEE IT! SEE IT NOW! Its cinematically stunning ... see the Swedish version, dark, moody and yes disturbing BEFORE Hollywood destroys this gem!

It is a vampire movie, unlike any you have ever seen.

I agree with so many movies mentioned here. The only not so far mentioned that comes to mind is the Irish movie Hunger, beautiful, but also very haunting. The last movie I saw that left me dumbstruck and in awe.

hey u must go for "Orphan" man....awsm

Failan with Cecilia Cheung surprised no one mentioned this at all.

"Dolls" ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0330229/ ) is very similar in style.

"Distance" ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0278413/ ) is also a slow movie but Dolls would be the closest in my opinion.

reply

To the already great list on here I'd add
The Fall
Stalker
Oldboy
