shareTo add to the list,
Nosferatu (Herzog's version) and anything by Herzog for that matter.
The scent of the green papaya http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107617/
and At the Height of Summer http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0224578/ both being Anh Hung Tran's movies.
Glad someone finally mentioned Green Papaya. What about Weeping Camel, Water and Keats.
shareA few not yet mentioned, many of which also explore the human condition... in no particular order...

A lot of strange things happen in this world. Things you don't know about in Grand Rapids.
This is one of my all time favorite movies, i will list some others that made me feel the same way after seeign it below.
- Amelie
- The Grocer's Son
- The Double Life of Veronique
- Bleu and Red of the Three Colours Trilogy
- Kikujiro
- The Decalogue
- A Short Story About Love
- Dreams
All of those movies where great and made me feel very happy and relaxed after seeing them.
Check them out!
I agree with In the Mood for Love but I can't believe that nobody recommended RAISE THE RED LANTERN!! This movie reminded me of Raise the Red Lantern very much, simply because they are both in an asian setting and are both very beautiful, both visually and auditory.

This may be a strange juxtaposition, but my guess is that you would very much like the Iranian movie: The Color of Paradise.
It too is very much a spiritual movie, but in the context of Islam. I think you would be surprised just how much in common it has with other religions, including buddhism.
Harmony with Nature is such a theme. The movie is shot in Northern Iran, and its cinematography is absolutely breath taking.
