Why I loved this film

From the first moment, I knew that this was a film made from a comic book - it had a comic book look and feel about it. I thought, "Yeah - if you're going to make a film from a comic book, make it LOOK like a comic book!"

Once I accepted the "comic book" look, I suspended my critical mind and just held on for the ride. And what a ride it was - non stop from beginning to end.

During the anti-gravity motorcycle chase, I lost all sense of up, down, etc, just like I was supposed to. (I'm a bike rider, so that meant a lot to me.) I found myself wanting an anti-gravity belt, just for the motorcycle ride!

At first I thought the "little dying boy" was just TOO manipulative, but the way in which it was used quickly won me over.

Using Null-void space to store weapons and ammo was such a great idea! I love that - can we have that next instead of a new type of glue?

Let's face it - Violet was hot!

Actually, this movie is not based on a comic book. The comics shown in the title sequence were created just for that purpose: the title sequence, and they were done before the character had a definitive look, as they wanted the artists to take creative liberties to see where would the character go.

Ok... now I see my previous post is completely useless... Somebody else had addressed that already...

That said, I really enjoy and love this movie. Unlike some (or most) people, I enjoy the dialog and fight scenes alike, but obviously the fight sequences take a bigger space on my head. I've seen them many times that I already remember it in my head... I am amazed especially by her White/Red outfit fight sequences, but the last ones with Daxus not so much.

Whatever the case may be, the few of us who have liked the movie should make a movement to spread our fascination for it and to ensure people that not everybody hated it. I believe that way we could get a Director's Cut coming someday... It's never to late to act, but if it doesn't happen anyway, the novel is pretty close to it, so we might still have a real taste of what Kurt Wimmer intended to do here.

No need for an apology for trying to be helpful. It can be a pain to read through pages of comments when you have something you want to say. I appreciate the intent. Before I retired, I used to teach martial arts (Japanese weapons), so I really enjoy the fight scenes. I even liked the fight with Daxus because of the fire on the blades in the dark. That was really original.

I agree with you about the Director's Cut as well. Any suggestions on how/where to post our approval?
