Are you getting tired of Vince Vaughn playing the exact same character?

I'll admit, he plays it well, and its not like all other Hollywood stars have exceptional range, but Vince seems to have the easiest job in the world.

I don't think he has to actually do anything other than show up and memorize some new lines (a lot of the scenes are probably improvised anyway) - its the exact same speech, delivery, facial expressions and mannerisms.

How would you describe him, ? I'm curious. I don't think he plays the same character, but its always based on someone who is the comic relief. I agree, its not a bad job , that he keeps getting roles like this. Sometimes actors , as a challenge to themselves play, the bad guy, the drunk, the depressed down on his luck fellow. But if you can make millions cracking jokes, power to him. He's personal friends with powerful people in Hollywood. Namely Brad Pitt.

reply

No, I'm not tired of it. I'll be upset when he chooses NOT to play himself.

"My d!ck is brown mother - f%$@*r!"

reply

tired of vaughn. period.
same goes for the owens, ben stiller and seth rogen.

reply

He can play other things. He just tends to play the same kind of roles. I've seen him in a movie about a guy sucking his thumb... I believe it was called Thumbsucker. So anyway, he was great (and different) in this.

reply

A grown man sucking his thumb. I suppose that would be different.

reply

My initial response is yes, I'm tired of Vince playing the same character. But really, I do think he has the potential to be funnier IF the scripts were more creative. The dialoge more witty, and not so predictable.

That's why I haven't seen this movie, yet. I'm afraid I'll be bored to death by a cookie cutter plot with no unique scenes to make it stand out. That's why I watch National Lampoon's Vacation every Christmas. It's still funny! And Elf.

i have never liked him to begine with.

Um, this guy played Norman Bates in the "Psycho" remake. He also had an excellent, darkly comedic role in "Clay Pigeons" and had another serious role in "The Cell". It does seem that he's played the same type of roles since maybe "Old School", but I don't think he's been nearly as funny as he was in "Swingers". People do get typecast and I guess he's just embraced it. He and Michael Cera should go bowling.

reply

I am so happy someone mentioned his role as Norman Bates in the remake of Psycho. I thought he was brilliant as the mother killing crazy person. It was actually the first movie I ever saw him in and it took me a while to quit thinking of him as Norman bates.

reply

I liked his character in The Lost World, Nick Owens.

I loved Vince's character in 'Clay Pigeons'!

Awesomeness: When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome again. True story.

I totally agree. Vaughn just plays the same character over and over - it's almost like his character in Four Christmases is the same guy as his character in Dodgeball, The Break Up, Wedding Crashers etc, it's almost like a follow on of one character.
He's good at what he does though, and I like him...it's probably the casting people's fault anyway.

I like him so much , I love whatever he does . but he is a good actor and still a lot of ppl would pay money to see him playing just himself :))

reply

Well...that's what he can do. Easy job or not, if it means I get to see his sexiness in another movie I don't care what part he is playing. Everyone can't be a classically trained actor with a lot of range, he just does what he's comfortable with.

reply

@Psychfan21 I totally agree :) ...but he is a very good actor by nature . You should ppl watch the re-make of "Psycho" or "Cool ,Dry Place" to see how easy for him to be charismatic & convincing in serious , complicated charcters as well....
