By saying they'll have Karen and Lucas killed if he didn't so that someone would become the new mayor.

Keith would give into it to protect Karen and Lucas.

Gotta feel bad for Deb she was right about Dan yet everyone else, esp Karen we’re happy to delude themselves.

Exception was Lucas.
