Zero Day because it had better acting, characterisation, story telling and realism.

Elephant was boring, badly acted and stupidly unrealistic. Showing underaged kids buying thousand dollar 'assault rifles' (with a shotgun pictured) over the internet was facepalmingly retarded.

Zero Day took awhile for me to get into, but it's far better than Elephant in my opinion.

Elephant had some beautiful shots but it was so unrealistic and yes, badly acted. I've never seen a high school that big!

Zero Day was very intresting, I actually loved the way it was shot.

i wish the ring had never come to me.

IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT YOU THINK...

elephants shootings at the end were creepier because aside from the guns,it was almost eerily silent.

Elephant sucked compared to Zero Day

Looks like I'm in the minority here, but I thought Elephant was far better than Zero Day. Elephant had a bunch of interesting and varied characters, while Zero Day had essentially two characters and a bunch of targets. (Cal's friend Rachel and Andre's dad get one scene each.) Also the construction of Elephant (overlapping scenes from different perspectives) was far more interesting to me than Zero Day's video diary presentation. Zero Day wasn't a bad film by any means, but I can't see any reason to watch it more than once, which isn't true of Elephant (or Polytechnique, which shared many of Elephant's strengths).
