Off topic: Thoughts on banning dodgeball at school?

My little brother in middle school told me they stop playing dodgeball because the coach said it's too brutal. Anyone else think that's crazy?

Yes, the last two generations in the US are definitely watered-down versions that couldnt hold a candle to the greatest generation. Sad to see that many scenarios we see are indications of a nation in decline even when those who applaud such changes defiantly say its not so.

Dodgeball was a fun game growing up. The otherwise boring day at school would be put on hold while you and some of your pals tried to show off your athleticism and bascially trying to take their heads off...in good fun. I remembered a guy getting hit so hard in the legs when he tied to jump and avoid a shot..that he ended up going a flip and falling unto the hard gymnasium floor. But after a quick laugh from everyone, the rampage continued. Afterwards, you laugh and joke about it...and go back to finish up the school day. Why is that so forbidden nowadays? If you think THAT will hurt a kid's self-esteem, wait until they cannot compete in the real world because theyve been led to believe that life is fair and have not learned about realistically dealing with adversity.

Well I'm guessing you're part of the greatest generation that we can't hold a candle to. It's your generations fault that things are the way they are now. You can't blame the children of a generation for the way their parents act and raise them. Somewhere along the way idiot parents got it in their mind that their way of growing up wasn't good enough then they complain about the selfish entitled brats they raised.

LOL...no not part of the greatest generation...but it can hardly be blamed on them that things are the way they are now. The generations since are definitely watered down. Instead of facing down nazis and rationing their food, they spend hours on twitter, texting, and are afraid of dodgeballs and getting red pen marks on their papers hurt their self-esteem.

Besides, I am not blaming the kids for their parents raising them badly...only that they are. The parents were not part of the greatest generation and it shows. And unfortunately, SOME flower-child parents were brought up with the idea that the world should take their feelings into consideration instead of basic fundamentals of learning and life lessons.

Edit for Dognastyevil:

Well, being old enough to see a few generations in person kind allows for one to make a reasonable analysis when comparing them, right? Looks like a time machine isn't really needed, huh? It does look to be an example of idiocy at its finest but I am sure you hear that a lot.

Next time at least try to counter the claim instead of making yourself appear the fool, ok? I'd try to educate but judging by your posting history, I would probably agree with your parents you are a worthless cause.

Am a P E teacher and play a huge variety of dodge games with the kids all the time. They love it.

Getting hit by the ball isn't the only danger. When filming this movie, the actors said that moving, dropping and dancing all over the place like they were did cause some real life injuries (just like with any other sport). Getting hit with the actual dodge ball isn't the worst of this sport.

School administrators want to ban almost everything. They don't actually care. It is all about the liability.
