FILM SPOOFS DETECTED

Don´t know if this topic was allready made, but here are the ones I "detected":
THE GREAT ESCAPE - That´s obvious, the penguins escaping...
RETURN OF THE JEDI - Skipper doing the Jedi "you saw nothing" art
AMERICAN BEAUTY - Instead of roses Alex sees steaks falling
MATRIX RELOADED - The Penguins "protect your back while spinning around"
PLANET OF THE APES - The Liberty Statue and Alex cursing it
SPEED II CRUISER CONTROL - The ship making a 90º curve and "docking"
MARCH OF THE PENGUINS - LOL...ok, skip this one. Skip also LION KING and RACING STRIPES
CASTAWAY - You know what I mean...
THE WARRIORS - New York has probably one the best and more famous live sets in the world, so why not the metro? Who says Warriors can say a lot else...
JURASSIC PARK - Fossas (raptors) surrounding Marty and Alex as the main predator (T-Rex) appearing
HAIR - Can the policeman riding a horse be considered? (back to The Warriors )
FRIENDS (TV) - Ok, Melman is voiced by David Schwimmer, who performs the hipocondriac ( and annoying) Ross, set is New York... and so could be any Woody Allen movie...
BLACKADDER III (TV) - King Julian is just like the stupid prince regent George ( Hugh Laurie ), as Maurice is just like a more confident/less malevolent butler Blackadder ( Rowan Atkinson )
ROMANCING THE STONE - The plane crashed, all crew long dead, but it´s something seen in many other movies
In reply to this post, please don´t repeat, so we can see how many spoofs there are. Thanks

Batman.

"We've been ratted out boys" A line spoken by Jack Napier before becoming the Joker. Also spoken by the penguin in Madagascar.

In the end credits the various characters are doing various dances, and I believe the Giraffe does the same (lame) dance that Ross (his voice) does on an episode of Friends.

when marty arrives on the island & him and alex run to hug each other.. what films that a spoof of?

OMalleysAnatomy, The reference to ND is during the credits when everyone comes out one by one and dances a little solo. When melman dances his solo he does some of the dance from Napoleon Dynamite...Hope that helps!!! Erzsike!!!

reply

They also reference Riverdance.

"The Phantom of the Opera is there, inside my mind!"

reply

Another reference, not really a movie. But in the airplane scene with the lemurs, King Julien makes a reference to...himself. The skeleton hand makes the "west side" gesture at one point during his speech, like da Ali G gestures often. =)

They should have cameoed Jon or got him to characterise Napoloen as a character in this film!

"Shut up!"

"Gosh"

There is another reference to Friends, at some point during the film [can't remember when] melman the giraffe says 'you have no idea how much this hurts', which Ross also says in an episode of friends.

reply

The only ones I noticed was the Zoolander one and the Castaway one... Lol!

"But why is the rum gone?!"

reply

And another reference to Friends: In the episode where Ross had to give his monkey away his first choice zoo was the San Diego Zoo. And when they first get to the island Melmen thinks they are at the San Diego Zoo.

"It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache."

There are a couple of stretches I can't quite figure out either and WARRIORS is one of them. I don't see the Matrix Reloaded either.

When mentioning a reference I sure hope everyone remembers to explain the reference.

Love this thread. Madagascar is a great flick. Hope MII is just as good.

They who give up liberty to
obtain a temporary safety deserve
neither liberty or safety

reply

i'm not sure most of these are actual references like the san diego zoo thing. its just a well-known zoo, so both shows used it. i don't think it was a reference.

reply

The Matrix reloaded referance was when the penguins were having a fight with the pole and wheel thing and were overcome by a neverending supply of advesories (neo and smith in the second film)

The name of the penguin Kawalski seems to be a spoof of Stargate. Kawalski was also the name of the second-in-command in the original Stargate film.

reply

return of the jedi when one of the Penguins mentions not being able to read the box because it is an "older code". Same thing said when Han is trying to land the captured Emperial ship on the Ewok planet.

I think some of the references people are trying to squeeze out are getting to be quite a stretch. It's getting to the point where people are like this person said the word "the" just like in that tv show. Anyway to the original poster you really lost me on your warriors reference. How do you get that out of this movie? Just because their home is NY? I didn't understand what you were talking about by your description. I also think the great escape reference is very very vague. Just because they are trying to break out it could be anything.

PETER PAN - When Alex gets shot by the dart and he has his hallucination Gloria flies around with a wand!

I Love Lamp.

PETER PAN - When Alex gets shot by the dart and he has his hallucination Gloria flies around with a wand!

I think that's supposed to be Moulin Rogue. When they drink the Absinthe and see the Green Fairy.

I was thinking of that creepy halucination scene from "Dumbo" as well.

reply

I think you mean 'hypochondriac.' Also, you labeled Ross as the hypochondriac, when it was Melman.

reply

there's one part when the penguin said 'it's been a pleasure fighting along side you' or somethin in that line.
i remember watchin a movie where that phrase were mentioned. does anyone recall?

There's also a reference to Ice Age: when Alex scares Mort the lemur so that he starts crying - it's just like Diego the sabretooth scaring the baby. :)

reply

You didn't detect anything.
You got it all from Wikipedia

Someone mentioned Mualin Rouge.
Where was that?

a lot of these are just things that happen in a lot of movies\tv shows not really parodies at all.. [& i already said that once =\]

like when they all look spereate ways then the train comes.. that was no reference to city slickers.. its in a lot of movies.
