FILM SPOOFS DETECTED

Don´t know if this topic was allready made, but here are the ones I "detected":
THE GREAT ESCAPE - That´s obvious, the penguins escaping...
RETURN OF THE JEDI - Skipper doing the Jedi "you saw nothing" art
AMERICAN BEAUTY - Instead of roses Alex sees steaks falling
MATRIX RELOADED - The Penguins "protect your back while spinning around"
PLANET OF THE APES - The Liberty Statue and Alex cursing it
SPEED II CRUISER CONTROL - The ship making a 90º curve and "docking"
MARCH OF THE PENGUINS - LOL...ok, skip this one. Skip also LION KING and RACING STRIPES
CASTAWAY - You know what I mean...
THE WARRIORS - New York has probably one the best and more famous live sets in the world, so why not the metro? Who says Warriors can say a lot else...
JURASSIC PARK - Fossas (raptors) surrounding Marty and Alex as the main predator (T-Rex) appearing
HAIR - Can the policeman riding a horse be considered? (back to The Warriors )
FRIENDS (TV) - Ok, Melman is voiced by David Schwimmer, who performs the hipocondriac ( and annoying) Ross, set is New York... and so could be any Woody Allen movie...
BLACKADDER III (TV) - King Julian is just like the stupid prince regent George ( Hugh Laurie ), as Maurice is just like a more confident/less malevolent butler Blackadder ( Rowan Atkinson )
ROMANCING THE STONE - The plane crashed, all crew long dead, but it´s something seen in many other movies
In reply to this post, please don´t repeat, so we can see how many spoofs there are. Thanks

In his fantasy, Marty jumps over the ravine kinda like the way Spirit does it near the end of "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron"
( isn't that a Dreamwork piece also ? ).
I thought the music during the show at the zoo is reminiscent of that movie too.
To answer scratchnsniff 's question about the penguins, it could a scene from Ice Station Zebra or Quintet

I also saw the whole film as being vaguely similar to lord of the flies. A group get stuck on the island and one of them turns savage. Basically the same outlines.

yeah, that's exactly what I said to my sister.

there's the whole 'chariots of fire' part when they're running down the beach.

What kind of desperate and pathetic emotional cripple would actually buy that as an ending?

reply

I also thought it took the mick outta 'Starship Troopers(1997)', when the Penguin frequently calls the private 'Rico' , compared to John Rice from Starship Troopers. The voice also sounds exactly like Rico's captain and he is persistantly given orders

Where's the Moulin Rouge reference?

And when I saw Maurice for the first time, I was thinking about "Pinky and the Brain"
Anyone else?

I also love the Blue Steel look by Alex/Ben Stiller

american beauty was the most obvious for me aswell as castaway and planet of the apes.

I personally wonder......

that is a good one, though it could be taken from anything set in NYC. It's a "typicall New York joke" as my mom said.

Alex's line, "It's like billions and billions of helicopters", is a nod to the late astronomer Carl Sagan who endeared the phrase "billions and billions" to popular culture during the award winning PBS series Cosmos (1980).

American Beauty
Band on the Run (For the movie poster and DVD cover, the main characters strike a pose similar to Paul McCartney's Wings (and six others) on the album cover 'Band on the Run'.)
Born Free
Cast Away (Marty constructs a shelter in defiance of Alex, who then tells a basketball, "Spalding", to shut up)
Chariots of Fire (The song is played when Marty and Alex meet for the first time on the beach, running towards each other in slow motion)
Hawaii Five-0 (Marty surfs on the backs of two dolphins.)
The Lion King (Alex roars in front of all the lemurs on an elevated rock, and Marty and Alex do the "pin" twirl where one rolls with another like a wheel, which was also referenced in the Lion King).
The Mission (Alex the Lion floating down the river and running a fall while "crucified")
Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom
National Geographic (The theme music of National Geographic programs is played when Alex tries to bite Marty after the failed perfomance)
NBA on ABC (Alex looks over the TV and says "Knicks lost again!")
Planet of the Apes (1968 film) (Alex says "You maniac! You burned it up! Darn you! Darn you all to heck!" while banging his paw on the sand)
Saturday Night Fever
The Silence of the Lambs
The Price Is Right (Marty says to the zoo visitors at closing time "to never spay or neuter your pets". This is the complete opposite of the famous subliminal message done by Bob Barker at the end of every episode, reminding viewers to always spay or neuter your pets)
Shrek (Alex aimlessly wanders along the beachside, and mutters in the Spanish version of the film, Burro, Fiona, and Shrek, which are the names of three of the main characters in Shrek)
Star Trek (The penguins have a captain's log and a stardate in their mission.)
Starship Troopers, Star Gate, Saving Private Ryan (Rico, Kowalski, and Private. Three of the penguins are named after the main characters from the movies.)
The Today Show ( When Alex is on the beach, he is muttering the names of his friends, then gets confused and starts muttering the names of the anchors on the Today show)
The Twilight Zone (the cookbook "To Serve Lemur" is a reference to the episode "To Serve Man")
Zoolander (Alex jumps in front of Marty, yelling "Surprise!" twice in the movie, which in Zoolander, Derek is in a coal mine and surprises his dad)
Gremlins (Mort the lemur looks and acts like Gizmo the gremlin)

My mommy says that every freckle on my face is a kiss from an angel

When Melmen is panicking and yelling "Nature! It's all over me!" and so on, was a reference to an episode of the show Monk starring Tony Shaloub :D

i wonder what the second Madagascar will be like....

When Marty is walking down the sidewalk to 'Stayin Alive'. Not just for the song, but in the original movie w/Travolta, a girl catches his eye and he checks her out when she walks by, just like Marty checking out the girl with the Zebra stripped shirt.

I think is a similar reference to Beverly hills cops. When Eddie Murphy walks past a couple of guys wearing the leather outfit he wore for his Eddie Murphy Raw show. He looks at them, then turns and laughs.
