top 5 scariest movies

this movie succeeded in scaring the living hell out of me, and therefore replaces all of those rings and grudges out there.

1. Gothika
2. Night of the Living Dead(remake)
3. The Grudge
4. The Ring
5. White Noise

Grudge 2 looks to be promising, however.

all the moveis that have had long lasting and psychologically disturbing imressions on me:

1.) The Grudge
2.) The Descent
3.) Signs
4.) Jaws
5.) Child's Play

yes, some of these i saw when i was VERY yong, so now they don't scare me, but at the time they really effed me up. like CP i saw when i was about four years old, but at the time, i couldn't even sleep and i had to get rid of all my dolls, and the fear of Chucky i had lasted until the seventh grade. The Grudge, i saw in the eighth grade and it is still to this day the one movie that has ever really had a truly disturbing effect on me. i still have really bad nightmares because of it and have trouble driving in a car alone at night. and Jaws, yeah, still scared the *beep* out of me.

I think that some of you people need to see some REAL horror movies haha.
Some of the things that have been listed are garbage.

Lets watch some Alfed Hitchcock movies. How about the Shinning, Silence of the Lambs, Wait Until Dark.

Thoughs are SURE to scare the hell out of you.

LOL I'll have to agree with that. I'm browsing this thread and it seems like all anyone's saying is The Grudge and bullsh!t like that.

And this movie definitely wouldn't be on my top 5. (I'm actually having trouble thinking of a top 5. XD ) It's scary, sure. But my 'scariest' are movies I walk away from thinking about (especially in the dark, teehee). I'll attempt to make a list anyway...

# Audition
# The Descent
# The Ring (the first time I watched it at least. Once you've seen it more than once, it's not as effective. And I think the second one pretty much sucked).

Erm... I'm struggling to think up more.

Has anyone seen Dead Silence? Me and my friend watched it, expecting it to be really cheesy, but we were screaming and scared to death. The doorbell rang while we were watching it, and we were so scared that we had to gather weapons before opening the door!
