Hands down. Hallie Berry can't act. I can't believe Jr. and Cruz signed onto this POS movie. The plot was unoriginal, predictable as hell, and disgusting to the core. Who in their right mind would make up a story like this...? Tourturing and raping underage girls in the basement?? My god, it's like Satan's wet-dream and get the director's rocks off kinda thing. This movie was more satanic than the Omen. Raping women in their cell at a mental hospital?? My god, this movie sucked so bad.
I only bought it cuz it was a dual dvd with Queen of the Damned. Good music btw and an insult to even have them touching in the same case.

ONly real good thing was to see how Halle Berry could do given her first solo outing.My problem is it's one of the few films that was TOO disturbing and that's coming from an all-genre movie nut like me. Halle, a la Ashton Kutcher's just-around-the-corner "Butterfly Effect" lead, blacks out.. the real killer seemed to do a terrorist's suicide thing. I saw itjust once, when it came out in ;ate 2003 and that's enough,sorry. Kind of wierd story. Aside, I love Halle;'s movies and acting and another solor thrille,r the much more recentr "Kidnap" was really worth it. Ncie to see Hallee

Nothing is more indicative of being simple-minded than associating all evil and atrocious acts with Satanism

Most acts of rape, murder, and torture aren't carried out by Satan worshippers, they're carried out by people with either no religious affiliations or people who identify as one of the most popular religions (Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism).

Psychopathy is a very real thing and it has very little to do with religious beliefs. There are plenty of rapists and serial killers in the real world and they do it either because of psychological trauma or some innate problem with their brains. Seldom is it ever because they think it's what the devil wants. You can stick to watching Disney movies and continue having your simplistic, naive view of the world. Us adults will continue watching movies that reflect the ugly parts of humanity, because we know that hiding from it will not make it go away

And yes, Gothika is a very bad movie. But not because of the very dark subject matter it deals with. It's because of the same things that all bad movies have in common: terrible writing, poor acting, endless cliches, etc.
