Why Superman Returns Was Dated Before It Came Out!

Yeah.

Since the Christopher Reeve movies ended we got newer takes, Lex Luthor is now an evil billionaire, and I think we have moved past the whole Lois loves Superman but not Clark and not knowing he's Superman as seen with Smallville, DCEU, Superman & Lois and My Adventures With Superman, which made this loose sequel take of Superman Returns pointless because it's a few decades behind to where people are with the character.

Lex Luthor being a wild guy who wants to do real estate schemes with nuclear weapons or kryptonite feels ancient, it's not where Lex Luthor is at. Lex Luthor since the Christopher Reeve movies ended was now a rich public figure who runs corporations who is a super villain behind the scenes, that's the Lex Luthor we get in Lois & Clark, TAS and Smallville.

I think a fan's perspective of Superman Returns is different depending on what age group they're in and what type of Superman comics they grew up reading or TV shows they grew up watching.
