which leading man were you routing for?

Hi All -
I'm just writing this to ask everyone who they were routing for Mirabelle to end up with. Despite Jeremey being a really quarky, enjoyable character who for every reason would be the better choice for Mirabelle, I still was routing for the relationship between her and Ray to prevale in the end. So I'm curious is it only me (who has a thing for older men) that wanted Ray & Mirabelle to be together, or if there were others.

give me your tots

Jeremey most definitly, Ray was old enough to be her father.

I was kinda hoping that she would end up with Ray, that he realized in time that he actually loved her and let her come close to him.

reply

Ray, absolutely! I think they made a better pair and he was so independent that he wouldn't smother her creativity the way I think Jeremy would. And, with his money, she wouldn't have to work and would have more time to spend on her art.

I was rooting for Ray all the way. :(

At first I was all for Ray. The thought even crossed my mind that Steve Martin was very sexy. (I have been watching him since the King Tut days LOL) I found his confidence and self awarness to be very attractive. I was sad for Jeremy - I saw him as sort of a slacker... just a nice guy who got by just to get by.

I get the ending, and I feel sorry for Ray, and the voice over said it best. Ray kept her at arms length and did not appreciate all off her. She needed to be loved for everything she was - not just the nice, pretty girl. She needed someone to enhance her, the same way she enhanced Jeremy. The shame is that Ray didn't see it until it was too late.

With the choice to be what ever you want-why would you choose an a$$ hole?

I kept changing my mind. I kind of liked Jeremy, but couldn't quite figure him out. Then when she met Ray, I thought he was supposed to be the love of her life, like she had this horrible dating experience with Jeremy and out of nowhere comes this great guy. But after they sleep together and the next day he's talking to somebody saying how he made it very clear about their relationship and that he basically got permission to sleep with her whenever he's in town, I was very confused. Who was he even talking to? I thought he was doing some sort of social experiment or spying on her or something weird like that. I just didn't understand why he was the way he was and it became increasingly clear that Jeremy was a much better guy.

Tomorrow's just your future yesterday!

I was rooting for Ray all the while. Jeremy is exasperating beyond exasperating. Mirabelle is miles and miles ahead of him in every department. Jeremy behaves worse than some 12-year-olds. Just look at the way he manipulated her into buying her own movie ticket (and one for him!)- everyone over 12 should know you don't get a second date after that, let alone a grown man.

Ray, on the other hand, really does love Mirabelle and knows how to treat her right.

I guess it's good Jeremy grew up enough to meet Mirabelle halfway, though. Only then is he good enough for her.

If it was a choice between old Jeremy and Ray, though, she should have gone with Ray.

No question about it.

I guess I am the only one who wasn't rooting for either one of them... Ray was too cold and Jeremy was too immature, though he did make progress near the end.. I wanted Mirabelle to choose neither or find someone else entirely.

reply

Neither! She probably should have ended up alone, happy and independent. Believe me, relationships are overrated!
