Jason Schwartzman = HORRIBLE casting error

he just didn't work. if we're supposed to be endeared to jeremy in any way then his casting doesn't work. he had no redeeming qualities as played by mr. schwartzman. someone a little less smug and pompous (read anyone) would've served the story better.

We're not supposed to be endeared by him in the beginning, entertained, yes, endeared, no. I think the casting was perfect. I love Schwartzman in just about everything. I think they could've chosen a better Louis IV in Marie Antoinette, but he's not terrible.

The future is just a f-ing concept that we use to avoid being alive today.

i couldnt disagree more.

i think he is lovely, just like his character.

I don't do too much talking these days

reply

i, too, thought he was totally fitting for the role

reply

He should've stopped after Rushmore....a cinematic treasure. Who cares about his part? EVERY part was cast fine except for the brutal Steve Martin performance. He was terrible. The part soooooooo did not fit him.

reply

Jason Schwartzman gave life to a seemingly boring movie. He definitely was a perfect cast.

well isnt the whole(side) point supose to be that jeremy changes himself for the better for mirabelle and she goes back to him because he has gained some charchter and whatnot. It may just be me. but i truly felt she needed to be with jeremy, like it was desiney or something but that might just e my super huge romantic heart. it was just amazing. i dont know. but through out the whole movie i kind if hated Ray for being a rich bitch rather than jeremy who was just super quiet and proud of himself. but thats just me.

reply

Couldn't disagree more, he was the best part of the movie

reply

i totally disagree...i adored him in this role!

yeah seriosly he was the only part of the movie that kept me watching. he was hilarious.

reply

Disagree! I thought he was great in this film. His character was so strange, I kept trying to figure him out. He did a great job.

Tomorrow's just your future yesterday!

I loved Jason as Jeremy. And yep, he's totally hot!

I'm not even a huge Schwartzman fan and i thought the part was perfect for him. I may have been a little off put initially by his persistent awkwardness but that quickly becomes part of the charm of Jeremy's ignorance and naivete. And it wasn't long before i found myself wanting even more of him in the movie. I do think there still could have been a little more character development. All we really see is that he listened to a lot of relationship books on tape and that's hardly enough to create a truly enlightened person. But he did change for the better because he wanted to be with Mirabelle and that's a beautiful thing. I found Jason to be genuinely believable and he and Claire had just the right chemistry to make me root for them.

I agree with the post that he was miscast. But thats just me I like him as an actor but I would have cast luke wilson now that would have been perfect for me and made a better ending
