Quite offensively homophobic

I watched this stinker of a film earlier today, and despite it not being particularly scary/violent/good, I noticed one thing that has been hard to shake, which is that actually this is one of the most homophobic films I think I've ever seen. The singular motivation behind this girl's killings is that she's in love with her female best friend and can't bring herself to say it, so she imagines herself as a serial killer to accept it. Or something. Truth be told the plot, to me, was dross. But this homophobic undercurrent stood out to me. To make it her only motivation is not only lazy... But pretty intolerable.

I'm a gay dude and I did not find this film offensive one bit. It was pretty fcking kick ass if you ask me.

am I paint?

Also, as a gay horror fan, I have been wanting an LGBT horror villain for years! I finally saw this film and thought it was so cool to have a lesbian killer!

And it's not offensive, because if it were, then up until the reveal the film would be heterophobic, as Le Teuer's only motive is that he finds Alex sexy.

reply

There are gay and lesbian spree and serial killers. Heck look at the guy who killed Versace and the lesbian serial killer Aileen Wuornos.

reply

Yes, I like to start off by saying that this girl's (DeclanCochran) argument is ridiculous! Vegetarians who eat fish are hypocrites! She thinks that because fish feel no pain they don't value their lives. Absurd!

reply

Well What the *beep* haven't seen this movie in some time but you're all being silly as hell! Just watch people die! You might just be over thinking a bit! Have fun! Nothing homophobic about it, just a woman losing her *beep* due to confusion pretty frackin simple and fun. Blah Blah Blah Horror sucks any way now so who the frack cares

reply

How could this movie be homophobic at all?! It's FRENCH for God's sake!!!

WARNING: I'M SEXY!

reply

Or maybe it's just a movie...just like the movies that always portray people from West Virginia as being inbred cannibal killers...when that is no where near tru

reply

so, according to your logic, the movie "single white female" would be heterophobic.

To me anyways, it's only homophobic if you take the view that her insanity is a result of her homosexuality.

Being a rational adult, I have never known anyone who was crazy because they were gay, or was gay because they were crazy... I didn't find this movie homophobic at all because I don't think her insanity is a manifestation of her homosexuality.

I think she's simply a crazy, obsessive individual that happens to also be gay.

I think her actions more reflect the fact that she is insane rather than lesbian. Sorry didn't read the posts prior and seems many have already made this very obvious point. I thought I was really smart and insightful there for a sec.
