Kate Bosworth was unbelievably nauseating!

Oh GOD!!! Not only did she make me want to tear my hair out for the whole movie, the resolution of the romantic plotline revolved around the 'six smiles' that she was supposed to have. Even this was too much for her, as she had the same sickening inane expression for the entire film. The only thing that induced me to stay til the end was the fabulous comic timing of Topher Grace, and great cameos by Nathan Lane and Sean Hayes. Please tell me that she is not the future of the Hollywood actress! Give me Scarlett Johanssen or Claire Danes any day! Thank God shes more famous for her boyfriend than her acting!

reply

RIGHT ON!!!!!! I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!! YOU ROCK YOU ROCK SO HARD THE WALLS JUST SHATTERED! I can't STAND Kate Bosworth. Clare Danes and Scarlett Johanssen are MUUUUUUCH better.

If nominated, I will not run.
If elected, I will not serve.

reply

She has absolutely no experience in life as a non-millionaire. All those goofy comments about First-Class, (when it turns out she's flown first class her whole life when she had courage to get on an airplane), and the small-town non-blueblood persona seemed very unnatural for her to pull off.

reply

LMAO you need a tranq, CALM DOWN you are exaggerating over a stupid boring comment just cause you cannot think for yourself or any better comments, also claire is boring and scarlet???? LOOOOOOL girl cannot act her way out of a paper bag unlike lovely kate, so badly even scarlett herself knows this so she takes her shirt off to change distact you.

hahaha, kids these days..

reply

Yeah, I feel the same way. All that "shake a doo" and "yikes a bee" *beep* was too much to handle. I watched the movie for Topher, Hayes and Lane's comedy. Duhamel was pretty great to look at, but I prefer Topher to him because the guy can actually act and has substance.

reply

Hah ha - yeah those made-up word/expressions were so bad, like...someone please gouge my ear-drums with a pencil...type bad. Topher was great, though.

reply

That wasn't her, that was the writing... how much could anyone do with that. It was just supposed to be a cute little quirk of her's, not a big deal. But, I do see what worldsbiggestshowoff is saying... even if I don't necessarily agree with it completely. I don't really see what could have made you so mad in this movie... would you rather Scarlett Johansenn wasted her time in a film like this? Every movie isn't made for Scarlett Johansenn, some are made just to make you smile and Kate Bosworth made me smile. She suited this role, that's all I have to say.

reply

WOW!!!!! I'M NOT ALONE IN MY OPINION!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! :))) I agree with every single word.

I mean, I was going to like this movie, i wanted to see it, cause i like Topher Grace's acting, but when i saw it.... i just couldn't get - what was wrong with that. re-watched some of it later and then i got it - that Bosworth girl, gosh, she spoilt the whole movie!!! it would be much better if some other girl played her, like, yeah, just who you mentioned (i'd really like Claire Danes for example). But Kate (and also that Tad Hamilton guy as well - Josh, is he?) - gosh, it just sucked so much!!! I just feel bad for Topher, cause it was kinda his first big role and he said he liked the script, but who knew that Bosworth would ruin it.

reply

I think Ginnifer Goodwin should have played "Rosalee"--Kate would have been a better "Cathy".

reply

yeah, i never thought about it, but yeah, i think she'd be much better

reply

That switch wouldn't work, the other chick isn't blonde. Don't you know anything about hollywood? Blonde = good, dark hair = bad. Why do you think so many chicks bleach their hair.

reply

Well, Bubba...I was referring to acting ability not some Hollywood executives stereotypical ideas. Blonde-good Brunette-bad. I'd like to think we as the movie audience are smarter than that.

It reminds me of when Sherwood Schwartz was casting "The Brady Bunch" and he wanted the girls to have blonde hair like their Mother and the boys to have dark hair like their Father. Granted that was a show geared towards kids, but aren't we supposed to be smarter than that?

If it weren't for Topher Grace, who at least made the film watchable, I wouldn't have bothered seeing "WADWTH!"

I guess you haven't seen any horror movies, then.

reply

no way, Goodwin did very well with her part.

reply

Never having seen Bosworth in anything else, I would say she did a pretty good job in WADWTH. She has that pretty girl next door look which would make a character like Topher Grace's fall in love with her. All the characters were well cast IMHO.

reply

Most def... Ginnifer Goodwin would have been better for the part, mostly because it was the lead and G.G is a better actress (IMO) than Kate B, although I don't hate her.

I completely agree. Too bad Scarlett Johanssen and Claire Danes have taste--they wouldn't be caught dead in this movie.

The Olive Garden--It's like eating in the private kitchen of a delightful Italian stereotype!

reply

Strangely I enjoyed this movie, and I didn't think Kate did a bad job at all. She did a rather good job of filling the position of the awkward girl next door. After seeing this and then later seeing Blue Crush I realize that she plays two completely different characters, and plays both of them rather well.

That's just my opinion I can understand if you don't like her, hey I hate Hilary Duff.

Granted, however, Topher Grace was the best part.

Ooh and the gay guy at the hotel. Somewhat ironic that there would be someone gay in West Virginia, openly at least- and hired. (I have nothing against Gay people but the South does at times). But anyway, he was hysterical.

Anyway, I enjoyed it. I love the whole Best Friend Love Relationship. How precious.

haha right, like terminator 2 and the avengers and scarlett's talentlessness forcing her to get naked in every movie. tasteful, sure.

are you all like, 13 year olds or something? hahahaha that would seriously explain how none of you immature haters would know good acting and taste if it slapped you with a fish..

This happened to be on TV the other night, and I have to say, I thought the movie (a moderately cute ROMCOM about the kind of people who only exist in moderately cute ROMCOMs) was fairly well-cast (and I like Scarlett J). Yes, Kate's little euphemisms were cringe-inducing; yes, her father's over-indulgence in show-biz lingo was over-the-top; yes, not even the cutie-pie Kate Bosworth made me believe for a second that JD (who might be the all-around most handsome male I've ever seen - and I'm a straight male) would actually drop everything and fly to WVa for a "life break" - if I had been his agent, my rant would have made Nathan Lane's look like Sunday School. But really . . . did you expect anything more? THAT SAID, I really wish someone would find something worthy of Topher Grace. He has the most on-camera charisma I've seen in a LONG time. For some reason, I didn't pay much attention to that TV show he was on . . . I'm drawing a blank . . . oh, "That 70s Show." But since "Traffic" (I can't get his scenes with Michael Douglas and Helena Christensen out of my head - just mind-blowing), I have been waiting for his career to take off. But for some reason, it's just not moving beyond this level movie. And I'm afraid it's because he's not Josh D "material." I see a lot of "Oh, I would choose TG, with his real stomach" on here . . . Bitches, please . . . we all know exactly which one 98% of you would choose in real life. What is it? Maybe if TG hit the gym? I just want him to break out. . .they complain in Hollywood about how they can't find any leading men who can put butts in seats anymore . . . here's one who could with a little training/styling/PR, and he's being relegated to THIS. The girl cannot act. All she can do is skip around. And I heard that she has two different colored eyes. is that true? That would look like trash on her. And agree with *worldsbiggestshowoff* all the way. She is only famous for her bf. She should not be on movies... her acting sucks.

reply

[deleted]

Yes, the two different color eyes thing is true. One is blueish and one is brown. She never wears contacts to correct it in any of her projects (ex: Young Americans, Superman Returns) And I don't think it's trash, it's fairly unique, at least in Hollywood - and directors must not mind or they'd have her wear a lens to correct it for the film.

reply

haha about those cake roll thingys. and as if kate bosworth has actually ever eaten pringle in her life - lol.

i dont really like her but she was fine in this film. a tad too thin but ok. but topher was awesome and so so cute. and ginnifer goodwin is great too

reply

yeah i did get annoyed by Kate Bosworth...she was too sweet..i loved that gay hotel guy though. Topher Grace was by far the best in the movie. Hes the best in any movie that hes in <3. and That 70s Show.

reply

I never saw her in any other movies so Im just judging her by this: it was not a good role for her. She was far too pretty. Does that make sense? I mean, check out those impossibly white teeth!!!! And she was a 22 year old virgin lookin like that??? Why do movies hand us a blonde, bright eyed, slender, giant-white-smiled girl and expect us to believe she's Never Been Kissed???
I'll go with what a few others said: the brunette friend woulda been a better choice.
As the charactor of Rosalee is written it IS one of those charactors thats so dumb and dippy and empty that you do think why would two guys be so enamoured of her? An ugly chick wouldnt act like that and get any attention...so that spells it out for you: they could only love this girl for her looks.
I didnt think much of this movie. Topher Grace was really good and thats the best I can say about it (His hair looked much better than his '70s do too!)

I'm sorry but I really don't think she's pretty at all. I feel lunch come up every time I see a picture of her. She needs to gain some weight so her head doesn't look so big. Seriously, she's so disgustingly thin! And her looks really aren't that big of a deal, if you study her closely. I'm not just saying that just because she happens to be going out with Mr. Gorgeous, Orlando Bloom, although if I do see one more picture of them together, I'll tear my hair out! (Oh wait, they already broke up. Never mind!) It's like, "Eat a cheeseburger!"

So you admit then that part of the reason you're making fun of her looks is because she went out with Orlando Bloom...

Seems like most of you have a problem with the character rather than the actress herself. I think Bosworth and the whole cast did just fine.

Reading between the lines of some of these posts, though, it's quite apparent that a few of you are resentful of her merely because she was dating Bloom.

Sad, really. Sad and pathetic.

reply

To be honest i don't think it's Kate...watching blue crush her character is likeable and i think she's really cool in the role so maybe it's just the charcater rosalee that people dislike. But i think as stupid and sickly sweet rosalee could be at times was a small price to pay for the film.I genuinely liked it and kate bosworth is a good actress which bis maybe why so many people disagree with this role?
On a diff note Topher is fabulous!!!! and yummy! And josh is equally as hot in a very diff kinda way and i think is fairly likeable as tad.**SMALL SPOILER ALERT** he's at least honest at the end.

Nope, honestly not the character at all. The character wouldn't have been as annoying as it was if a better actress had been playing her. If a really good comic actress had been playing Rosie, I think the character would have gone over much better with audiences. I thought about it a little, and I think the two male leads liked Rosie because of something they could see in her, something they couldn't help but like. And I didn't think that Kate Bosworth had it, at least not in this particular film. It's really hard to explain what I'm talking about without naming examples, but I didn't want to, and the best thing I can think of is Audrey Hepburn. You needed someone like her, and I didn't think that came across here. Sorry if I didn't phrase it clearly enough, or if I offended anyone. That's just what I think

reply

If a really good comic actress had been playing Rosie, I think the character would have gone over much better with audiences.

You mean Orlando Bloom fans. According to a lot of reviews and from people not belonging to that (ahem) fanclub, Bosworth was utterly charming and perfectly fine in the role.

Sounds like you're talking about someone possessing that certain 'it' (in this case, charm) factor. But I don't know where you brought the relevance of bringing out how good of a comic actor a person is when your criticism (it sounds like) stems more from a miscast issue.

reply

Sheesh! Transparent much? Even if you don't think she's beautiful, really, nearly objectively (by Western standards at least), it's frankly impossible to find her disgusting and hideous enough to cause vomiting. At worse, an honest person could say, "She doesn't do it for me," or "She's okay." Issues, Miss Independent? She doth protest too much, methinks.

And quoting Christina Aguilera's guide to female empowerment? Surely you're being cleverly ironic and self-consciously cool?

reply

You must not like girls........

reply

I dunno why but i didn't really like Kate Bosworth's character in this movie...I loved shawn hayes tho..i thought the part where he's in Tad's closet trying on clothes was one of the funniest scenes...

I just saw the movie the other day on HBO, and I'd never seen Kate Bosworth in anything, to the best of my recollection. I found out who the blonde was and I thought, "oh, so that's who Kate Bosworth is (wordless sound effect to mean, "not terribly impressed")

Topher Grace is always fun to watch in anything. I just hope he doesn't get typecast as the uptight, righteous, sarcastic twit he plays so well. Yeah, his character was a twit, but he did a good job of it. Eric Forman's a bit of a twit, too, but a great one. I'm only tuning into the final episode of That 70's Show when the final season wraps up sometime next year. The show is not going to be the same without Eric. You can F UCK ING WELL have Ashton's character (I liked him on the show before the whole world made such a big deal out of him)

Sorry to have gone off track this way.

Topher was a bright spot in the movie

Bosworth was a bland spot in the movie.

I also liked the Tad character as well as all the others.
