So, allow me the luxury of analysis, please. Actor A is in movie 1, in which an internet thread has originated. Poster X chooses to title said thread with a broad brush, questioning the general acting ability of actor A, but does continue in the post with specificity about actor A's performance in movie 1. Poster X ends the original opinion asking for acquiescence or dissension, then insulting anyone who may disagree. The inevtible heterodoxical backlash occurs when opinions are laid bare in a public forum. Poster X's hackneyed retort, when questioned, is to claim anyone with the audacious insanity to question the opinion is off topic. "How dare anyone produce anecdotal evidence to the contrary that refutes my opinion?", Poster X appears to question. Wow, what I love most about reading these threads is the "goldfish bowl" illustration of the human condition. Ask for dissent. Question the sanity of any dissenters. Insult others while grousing about perceived insults. Whine and complain about invited discourse. Mock others for grammar, spelling, and punctuation while committing the same faux pas in that very sentence. (Yes, I carefully proofread that one for errors, whew!) It is wonderful. It is more entertaining than Marlon Wayans could ever be. Basically, Poster X brought his "b*tch to the internet, but is dissatisfied that the others have brought theirs as well. It is time to look at movies like these message boards. Go in with low expectations, and you will not be disappointed. Yes, this may diverge far from the original topic, but it really is what it's all about, isn't it?
On another note, we need more posters like Poster Y, for sheer comedic effect. Poster Y is the functionally illiterate individual who questions the intelligence of those around him. I paraphrase, but it usually goes something like this:
"Y is them ignunt poeple alwaays playun that their race card. Heck, we are all supperpeerior, just looka my wrtin skills. Theyuns shuld know there place or go back to whateve it is they come frum. Leave Murica for us'ns that done stoole it."
Fire when ready, Ridley.
- A troll is just someone who disagrees with you. Isn't that the whole point of discussion?
