Shockingly Underrated

I've heard for years how this movie isn't very good and probably the Coen Brothers worst but I just watched it last night and honestly I LOVED this movie. I thought it was very funny and I thought Irma P. Hall was just fantastic in it as well as Tom Hanks. Now I can't compare it to the original since I haven't seen it (maybe that's why a lot of people don't like it?) but as a stand alone film I really liked it.

I agree... it's one of my sentimental favorite Coen Brothers films. I have long been stupefied as to how it garnered such low ratings and the only thing I can imagine is some "purists" weren't pleased with the remaking of a classic. I think True Grit also caught some of that kind of flack and I liked their version of that one as well.

Tom Hanks was absolutely brilliant in this. He seems to bring a unique and exclusive quality to every role and this was certainly no exception. The rest of the cast were able to hold their own as well, and that's a monumental task when you have Hanks so on point.

I absolutely adore this film.

Plus it was my first exposure to JK Simmons and I've been a massive fan of his ever since.

Any hate this film gets is entirely undeserved.

Left my wallet in El Segundo...

Too phooking right. Wonderful film and Irma P. Hall is amazing. So is the soundtrack.
