This post is different because it is the only one by a growing male, and hopefully it wouldn't be the only one that says Leon: The Professional is the greatest love story of our time.
shareWuthering Heights
shareA Midsummer Night's Dream.
- once a wildcat, always a wildcat.
there very many to choose from, and many good ones have already been mentioned. I am very fond of SAM & JOON (from Benny & Joon), KORBEN & LOOLA (the Fifth Element), HARRY & MARIE (to Have and to Have Not), HOLLY & GERRY (ps. I Love You), ADAM & AMANDA (adam's rib) and JUNO & PAULIE (Juno).
and many more :)
cheers

Tommy and Izzy. (The Fountain)
Jose and Nina, though they were really friends. (Bella)
There's so many good ones, but I think selfless love stories are the most beautiful.
Spooky, Diego, I was also going to say The Fountain. Although the love shown by the main character of Life Is Beautiful in wooing his belle and then protecting his son is right up there too. Having mentioned both of these, I think the OP wanted to avoid films where any of the parties died!
shareLol, I know that everyone is going to start yelling at me now, but personally, I just love Twilight. I wouldn't say greatest love story of all time, but very close to it. I guess I just havent read that many love stories....
But yeah, Romeo and Juliet would be my next choice.
~Edward Cullen~

If you think Twilight is a great love story you really need to read The Notebook.
Jack and Ennis are good.
My favorites are:
Jack and Rose
Noah and Allie
the parable of the prodigal son
shareNoah and Allie. They haven't seen or spoken to each other in seven years and yet they're still completely drawn to each other. I cry every time I watch that movie.
And Jack and Rose. You can really believe that they could fall in love in the space of about one day.
"Everyone had a theory as to why"
You should definitely go watch the "Before" trilogy ("Before Sunrise", "Before Sunset", "Before Midnight"). Just don't expect a sugared love story, especially from the third one. ;)
My answer to the OP's question would be the second of the above mentioned movies - "Before Sunset", with a close second "The Adjustment Bureau".
That said, I haven't watched most of the classics mentioned here. Recently I read the book "Pride and Prejudice" and it was entertaining, so I'm looking forward to see some of its adaptations.
