Did anyone else think Orny Adams is biggest a$$ ever?

I hope this guy never makes it, cause if he did wouldn't be gratefull. I think he was in this so people would not hate Jerry, which i admit worked because I normally am not a fan of his comedy but respected him lots more when compared to Adams.

im so glad you made this topic maul57, if u didnt i would have. I HATED Orny, wut a little whiny bit.ch. And i hated how he talked about people behind their backs, (jerry, the guy giving him advise, um other people) Yea theres more but screw it.

reply

yeah orny really blows.

he's got dreams of being "great" but he fantasizes about them too much instead of just living in the now and doing the right things to get there.......

also unlike seinfeld who knows what's funny and waht's not, this guy dares to blame the audience for not laughing at him...........

i think he IS funny............but no more than HUNDREDS of other comedians like him. BUt unlike them he's got a bad attitude, arrogance, and other bad qualities like that.

He will never make it because he doesn't know how to be humble.......

Even the so-called "mean" comedians like Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy or Chris Rock were and ARE humble.

Orny isn't.

I agree that I didn't like the guy as a person for the same reasons listed above, but I believe it was important to include him in the movie. The film is supposed to be a documentary, and shouldn't pull punches.

You'll notice that Seinfeld himself as an attitude when talking to a lot of people as well (like he said in the quotes above, he's just better at hiding it).

Real life is that we find these guys funny, enjoy their work, regardless of the jacka$$es they are behind closed doors.

Liking their work does not equate to liking their person, and vice versa.

It's all a matter of reaching. It's all a matter of struggling. - Juno

And in the beginning of the film - before we see what a huge jerk he is - he actually says something (when he's in the cab) about NOT being condescending to others. Then he goes on and on throughout the rest of the film being negative about Seinfeld and everyone else. Wat? How is that not condescending?? Such a pathetic loser. So desperate for fame he doesn't deserve.

The people you idolize wouldn't like you.

reply

Maul57, yea, I agree, he was not easy to like. Though, I do think some of the clips we saw from his standups was clever, like the "old cellphone".
But few people will like him after this documentary, so don't worry, he won't make it.

I'm actually watching this DVD right now and he is whining about the audience "sucks" and crying about people not reading him in the paper. And I'm also pissed off about his "Lupus" joke. My mother is DYING from lupus and MANY, MANY women have died and are diagnosed with Lupus. Not many people even know what that is, he has no f*cking right to say that.

LOL... he took money from George Shapiro. The only reason I'm actually watching this DVD still is so that I can hate this person even more.

hahah this guy is telling Orny that he needs to STFU and just do his act. And then he made a crack about some steven wright guy, that was f*cking gay. And then when that guy left, he calls him a c*cks*cker.

I hope Orny Adams dies in a carcrash. Jerry is a kickass comic!

*EDIT*
This f*cker is saying "gotta pick a disease that only women can get. I hate this motherf*cker!

"And the way I see it ladies you owe me for one jelly donut. NOW GET ON YOUR FACES!"

reply

"That's the picture of me they'll put in the paper if I die in a car crash. Comic killed."

...if only.

I actually saw his standup a while back after seeing this movie and surprisingly he was really really good. I also thought he seemed like a huge jerk when watching the movie, but when he opened for Tracy Morgan he did a great job and I even got to talk to him a bit afterwards. I asked him about what he thought of Comedian and the image of him it gave, and he just said that he has learned in the future not to be as honest and vulnerable when people are filming him. Then he gave me tickets to his next show(which i unfortunately couldn't attend), but he was honestly a nice guy that seemed grateful for a compliment. So there are two sides to every story, and documentaries are often heavily biased.

Wow, am I the only one who thought he was an o.k. guy? I really didn't see anything wrong with him. Ok, when he said stuff about Seinfeld, that pissed me off a little bit, but he seemed like a decent guy. I really don't know what anyone is talking about him being a jerk.

reply

I felt kind of sorry for Orny Adams right up until he went "Steven Wright? Who the *beep* is that?" Only one of the most iconic comedians ever, jackass.

reply

Orny came off as an arrogant *beep* in this movie. I thought his comedy sucked too. It left me wondering why the hell I'm not a stand up comic, because i can write better jokes than this guy when I'm unconscious. His best jokes were the ones about lupus, and the large cell phone. WOW. Like I haven't heard about 900 variations of both of those jokes. What a hack. But, we do have to remember that this is a film, and was heavily edited. I watched the special features, and Orny seemed a lot less arrogant and full of himself in them, but I think it was after he had saw the film and realized, Hey! I'm an *beep* I better tone it down a bit.

i agree 100%. From this documentry it seems as if he has the biggest ego ever.

i LOVE documentries like this where we get to see a ego maniac realise that he's not as good as he thinks. There is another documentry called Overnight that you just HAVE to see if you agree with me.

i'm a real whore for sequels and DVD extras
