I understand what you are saying, his performance seemed over the top and made him seem a little demented in some scenes. Kinda reminded me of when Screech started to change a little in "New Class." The characters they play become a parody of themselves.

Yeah, Stifler seriously comes off like a complete sociopath in this movie in how detached he is from the feelings of others and his pathological deceptions to get closer to others. Then again, you see this a lot in movies that have one playfully unhinged character who get popular with audiences and all the writers can do is developed his unhingedness more and more. To the point where it would be diagnosed as antisocial personality disorder.

American Reunion actually redeemed his character a bit by showing him as a kinda pathetic (but otherwise OK) character who is just emotionally locked into his high school mindset.

yeah this was not the stifler in American Pies 1 and 2 or even American Reunion.. In this one he's way over the top and kinda headed towards the other team, meaning gay???

He acted like a retard in this one. The movie was still enjoyable, but that wasn't the Stifler we loved from 1 and 2.

lol Cable Guy 2

I just saw American Pie 3 for the first time and it was terrible!
Yeah Stifler is way off - it's like a bizarro movie and not in a good way.

Just the way he walks off the bus in his first scene, the character/acting seems forced.

I actually found his character to be extreme annoying. I don't know if that was the intention or not. If it was, then they completely succeeded.

reply

He was very annoying. Talked oddly, walked oddly, behaved oddly....Not in a funny way either, just unpleasant to watch.

this was the best movie in the series. I absolutely love stifler, I dont see no problem.

I just went onto this board hoping to find this same topic... Yes, Stifler was one of the funnier characters in 1 and 2. Yet for this one, the writers took that character to a whole other extreme. It's typical and common in many series... The character overstays his/her welcome and becomes a parody of himself/herself. From the moment he walks off the bus, it's almost embarrassing to watch... Thankfully, they tone him down in AP4 and brought back the Stifler from AP 1 and 2, but this one is excruciating to sit through...

What happened to Stiffler in this movie, is that they took a secondary character who had some funny one liners, and due to his popularity with the fans they tried to make him one of the focal points in this movie.

Stiffler should never be the focal point of the movie. They should have left him as he was in the 1st two movies (and now the fourth), as a secondary character.

He does that psychotic laugh after almost every line he delivers in the movie. It's overkill.
