Looney Tunes Back in Action or Space Jam
I think Space Jam is better.

Space Jam FTW.
In the beginning BiA had the potential to be better, but it simply sucked afterwards, especially near the end.
I say Space Jam is better even though Back in Action have more Special Appearances. Reasons...
1. Lola Bunny is who I expected to see in Back in Action too but I soon discovered that Back in Action is just repairing the characters personalities. Some FLAMERS have to FLAME huh?
2. You get to see how we are to travel between the Real World and Looney Tune world.
3. The GAME itself is really awesome even though you play it alone.
4. You get to imagine if you can meet the Looney Tunes yourself if you like to play Basketball.

I'm a die-hard bball fan but space jam just sucked balls.
Back in Action, Space Jam was only a mindless vehicle for Michael Jordan this is much funnier with all the Hollywood in-jokes and satire

Much as I love and respect the Looney Tunes, it was the human actors that dragged it to the depths (Steve Martin being the guiltiest of the group). Not to mention scads of unnecessary filler such as the entire Wal-Mart gag and Shaggy and Scooby arguing with the exec (because when you stack up their animation against the Tunes in the same frame, the entire illusion is shattered).
Still, it was great to see Daffy pitching a fit at getitng blasted by Fudd in the classic cartoon (finally, Bugs gets it right in the face!), and the space battle was fun to watch.

I'd say that was done on purpose. If you're a child of the 70's/80's (like me), you'd know it was spot on. Instantly recognizable. share

Even though Joe Dante hated "Space Jam," his "Back in Action" involving the Looney Tunes bombed, in which the former ranked high as a box office success. I find this ironic.
He hated "Space Jam," yet he thought his film could do better than it, which it did not. Sales for "Back in Action" were low, but "Space Jam" went high (presumably because of product placement and involving an affiliation with the NBA).
"Space Jam" captured my attention more than "Back in Action" could ever do.

Why? Because I was a fan of Michael Jordan during his basketball days and just for appearing in a Looney Tunes-affiliated live-action/animated film was definitely fitting for him.
I don't know what Joe Dante was thinking, but his movie was certainly a let down. "Back In Action" didn't seem to get to the point that much, it kept going on and off the point frequently.
At least "Space Jam" went more to the point, and much less on breaking the fourth wall (Back In Action did this frequently). I'll admit that Space Jam's ending could have been done better, but still Michael Jordan was a fitting star when he was paired alongside the Looney Tunes.

'Back in Action' got much less advertising and it got hammered by being released between 'Elf' and 'Cat in the Hat' during the 2003 Holiday Season.

I'm really impressed with the intelligent, thoughtful analysis in this thread.........I have to agree with what a few others have said - 'Space Jam' feels more like a Michael Jordan vehicle with the Looney Tunes almost playing supporting characters.
'Back in Action' brings the Looney Tunes back to the forefront, and its sense of silly, whacky, self-depriciating humor captured the humor and essence of the Looney Tunes much better.
That being said, I still don't hate 'Space Jam,' and I'm still glad Michael Jordan gets a cameo in 'Back in Action.' share

shareEven though I grew up with Space Jam, I have got to say that Back in Action was the better of the two as it is far more of what the origial cartoons were aka a good old fashioned adventure with spies, evil villans, cool gadgets, special appearances and great inside jokes! And on an added note I LOVE the Area 52 scene with the old movie monsters and how Marvin the Martian actually got a somewhat large role in this movie (aka in my opinion one of the most underrated cartoon characters in history).

shareSpace Jam was good, but Looney Tunes was where they use more of the WB characters like they did with the Tweety and Slyvester mysteries and plus it had more wit. For some Space Jam lost some of LT edge it was so famous for and were reduce to gross out and butt jokes.

Space Jam for me...The Sound track was absolutely amazing. I played the hell out of the sound track. >=)

Let me see. The choice is between a good Looney Tunes movie with a lot of in-jokes and cool scenes or a comercial for Micheal Jordan. I would pick Back in action any day of the week.
