"Like I said, Americans can be so "Insular." "
-Way to generalize. And Brits can't?
"& I'm a fan of skyscrapers too, so 911 for us was deeply upsetting for lots of reasons."
- Leave 911 out of your rotten toothed, dirty brit mouth. See? I can generalize, too! Brits = Rotten Teeth. Much like how you say American remakes = Crap.
For every good Brit flick, there are 10 good American movies.
Why shouldn't I mention 911, we were involved because it was regarded as an attack against the West not just America, plus of course a few British people lost their lives that day too. And of course Britain's involvement in the war on terror brought terrorism knocking on our door not long after.
But then we've had to put up with that for decades thanks to the IRA anyway!
As for the rotten teeth comment, I think you've been watching too many Austin Powers films perhaps?
And yes there's loads of good American movies, which is to be expected considering the amount of them being constantly made. But there's also loads of endless vomit being spewed from Hollywood too and the remakes make up a large proportion of that.
But we're all different and like different things, so that's cool anyway.
Oh and TBH I wish Britain was more insular, because the nation (and government) seem more preoccupied with PC and not offending the illegal immigrants flooding in here rather than celebrate and preserve our own heritage.
Is it any wonder that the Mini name is now in the hands of the Germans?
