Natalie is "fat"??

I love this movie but I never understood why they had to add in a jab about a perfectly slim woman being called "chubby". so uncalled for!

To be fair, Hugh Grant's character agrees with you and he's the one you're supposed to be rooting for.

I imagine it was kind of a difficult thing to try to do. She's called chubby by a couple characters yet the person that the story is about doesn't think she's fat. So how big or small should the actress be? One thing that people seem to ignore is that we aren't meant to agree with the people calling her fat, we're meant to agree with the Prime Minister.

She's not fat, but slim probably wouldn't bring up a mental image of her body type in many, in any, peoples minds.

If she knocked on my door she'd get in, but if someone asked me to describe her body I'd probably say height weight proportionate, but I wouldn't say slim, or svelt, or say she was a stick or athletic looking, etc.

she's definitely not slim.

keira knightley is slim. lucia moniz. Heike Makatsch. they're both slim.

but martine was definitely not slim in LA. fat? not really, thicker, yes, but not fat in the typical sense. but she is also most definitely not slim.

she's not fat, but not as skinny as most of the other young women in the film. And Hugh grant clearly likes her.

Agree. That black lady who worked for Hugh's character was so rude (sizeable thighs) ugh

reply

It was a very accurate scene. The girl thought she was chubby and you could see why she would say that. Hugh disagreed and that was his POV. It was a very accurate scene.

reply

I agree with the OP. It's ridiculous to consider her fat or chubby.

reply

Yes. That said, she was "good" fat.
