Not a very child friendly movie

This movie is suppose to be a kids movie but yet it did not really seem to be.

Parts such as when the cat chops his tale off and he says sunava and then it goes on commercial so you do not hear the bitch part. I immediatly turned off the movie because my little cousin who was 3 at the time and then 14 month old son were sitting thier watching it.

I decided to watch the movie after they bioth went to bed and see if it had any other bad parts in it and if not I was going to le tthem finish it up the next day but then when the cat jumps over the fence to get the dog he has a garden tool and throws it down and says "dirty hoe" after that I was like no way are the kids watching this.

I alwso decided to look at some of the feutres and in the deleted scences they had a part where the cat and the children are on blow up rings going down one of those water slides that lay flat on the ground and the cat was holding up a picture of the childrens mother in a bikini and stearing at it like he was getting tunred on.

I was totally outraged that they would say it was a childs movie and child friendly and I do not plan on letting my child or my cousin watch it anytime soon.

do you watch cartoon network? the are tv shows for kids that invlove things like that, characters about to swear only to be interrupted so they dont say the curse word, somewhat sexual jokes (like in the looney tunes), and many other jokes found in this movie can be found in many cartoons, even old ones, trust me if kids see this it wont make a difference

I just caught this movie on tv the other night and thought the exact same thing. The humor seemed more aimed at adults than children. I just didn't find it very appropriate or in keeping with Dr. Seuss' style/spirit. I didn't think the cat was very likable and the jokes were just awkward. I didn't enjoy it and I wouldn't let my niece and nephew watch it.

Like one poster said it might go over their heads but they repeat things they hear or see not knowing it's bad. My niece listened to my mom cursing at my dad when she was only a few months old and said her first curse word {MF}. Now she didn't know it was bad only that my mom had said it so it must be something to learn. She doesn't curse now but if a child hears something long enough they internalize it and can't shake it.

I think most of these things would go over a child's head so it's less of an issue.

The real problem was just how bad it was and not funny.

The cat erection was disturbing.

if kids that age watch it they wont even understand the movie, let alone the adult jokes. they weren't even that bad and the movie doesn't have any bad words, as he says dirt hose.

I first saw the movie when I was 6 and I loved it,and my brother's who at the time were 4,7 and 10 also liked it. I think it's a great kids movie. I didn't mind the part when he chopped of his tail, it wasn't graphic or anything it kinda reminded me of tom and jerry, tom's always getting his tail chopped of. I don't remember the 'dirty hoe' part but that's probably because I had no idea what he meant by it, and as for the bikini part I didn't think much of that either, I didn't think those two scenes were funny or interesting so I pretty much forgot the as soon as they were over. I think they put those scenes there for older people who are watching it with a kid, to make the movie a little more bearable for them. I don't mind the tail chopping and kid's won't understand the other two jokes so I see no harm in letting a child watch it. That's just my opinion.

This film really is controversial. After that incident, film makers decided never to do live action adaptions of Dr Seuss stories again. Haven't you noticed that they are now making computer animated adaptions?

When I watched this as a kid I didn't understand any of the double entendres or innuendo until I was older (though I did understand the cut off language and stuff like the *beep* mobile) It is all very subtle and very mild. No kid will be upset by it and they probably won't even notice.

It was a HAT. A HAT. Yeah the Cat gets excited over the mom's picture. That kind of humor is so old it shouldn't be surprising at all really. Heck, it was in the first Shrek, and there WAS NO SUBSTITUTE!!! It can't be any worse than an old cartoon where a person sees a woman with a tight waist and turns into a wolf and their eyes pop out... old comedy. I'm not a fan of this movie, but my kid likes it ok... it could have been 'better' for sure.

I like the movie, I gave my OPINION. Go ahead flame and slander me. It is what you do.
