This movie is like a train wreck. You want to look away, but you just can't. Even if their first choice was available, it would still have sucked. In case you are wondering, Their first choice was Tim Allen, but he was busy with "The Santa Clause 2."

this thread is really funny. I agree with everyone who said that it's bad if you are expecting the book, but funny if you like Meyers' style and can accept it as its own seperate entity. The first few times I saw it, I didn't like it very much save for a few really really innapropriate lines that were funny merely for the fact that they were in a PG movie. It's not a movie I ever paid to see, but watched it a lot on HBO when it was on basically every day. I like it alright, but The Grinch was about 20 times better.

Not so bad. Mike Myers was annoying I mean some of his jokes were nice but some were really irritating. However it had a colourful feel to it. And the visual effects are nice. Not Matrix level but still good enough. I believe they should have reduced the innuendoes and added some more humor which has no double meaning. It does not deserve a 3 rating. Somewhat 4.5-5 will be fine enough.

Im from Argentina (South America) and i have no idea that this movie comes from a book.
I give a 7 to the movie, i realy like mike myers performance, its a movie with a lot of subliminar meseges.
I think that probably is becouse of the book that most people dont like it.
Anyway is not a so important movie to make so many coments about it.

The movie is very good! i saw it with my 3 year old nephew (who's seen it several times before because it's her fav movie so far) and it seemed to me like an adorable movie, maybe not the tender-kind of, but very creative and colorful and yes, funny! ...concerning the rate given in this site, it's extremely low, i'd give it a 7 at least.
