Is it that bad?????????
The rating is so low.
shareI think the rating should be a bit higher, but not too much. Just about 1 point, to make it a 4 or something.

This is a terrible movie. It really is. While I was in the cinema watching this film the only thing tht stopped me from walking out was the fact tht i had spent money on it. A truly painful and disappointing film.
The only thing tht was ever good was a few bits at the start which gave the film a bit of hope, unfortunatly it was crushed by the plotless, crapiness of it.

I thought it was really boring...but that's just my opinion. I couldn't finish it...I turned it off...
Jesus is my SAVIOR!!
Ugh this movie was TERRIBLE. just because the grinch was amazing doesn't mean that they should've even attempted it. And what the hell was up with mike myers horrible New York accent as the cat. I hated it and would give it a 0 of 10.
Smashing, top hole, jolly old...
LOL How old are you guys/girls? our social studies teacher was away so our releiver played this moveie. we couldn't stop laughing, even through the next period we were cracking jokes about it (much to our science teachers disgust).
By the way we are 14-15yrs old
Yes....quite possibly the worst kid's film ever made. The Cat in the Hat as envisioned by Dr. Seuss was not a flatulance and body-fluid obsessed Brooklynite as Myers plays him here. This movie is more Spaceballs than Dr. Seuss. The set design is impressive--too bad the movie itself reeks and is another example of why so many kids today suffer from A.D.D.
Human Beings...Wowshare
I liked this movie. it was funny. i loved it so much.
shareThis is was the first movie in my life that made me want to walk out of the theatre. Absolutely terrible movie.
shareI think the movie is that bad. I voted 1 of 10.
The people who say "The reason people don't like it are expecting Dr. Seuss" well what are the people suppose to be expecting with a movie called "The Cat In The Hat?" and Dr Seuss credited as writer of the book?
I didn't see any of Dr Seuss's vision in this movie really. I liked the idea of the movie, but not the movie itself. Dr Seuss's Cat In The Hat was meant to be for young kids to enjoy reading in scool or being read to by there parents before bed. The movie isn't something I'ld wanna watch let alone let my sister's kids watch. The people who said the movie wasn't ment for kids don't know what there talking about. If you look at the way the movie was advertised then you'ld know it was meant for kids, but they messed it up with adult oriented jokes.
Perhaps the rating has been ostensibly low for prejudicial reasons and just exaggeration. Those who post comments on films they've never perceived are merely implying the fact that they are ignorant and need a life. I personally haven't viewed this film so I can't pose a comment of pure integrity, but judging on the grounds of observation that most films of this genre are generally rated lower, the reasons I have specified seem most plausible.
shareCoolfasho;
Your half-baked attempts at sounding intelligent are a waste of time to the entire internet community. You're prattling about those who post comments on films they've never "percieved" (which makes no sense and comes across as arrogant ignorance) when you admit that you yourself have never watched the film that this message board is commenting on!
Save the bullsh*t ignorant elitist jargon for the 13 and under message boards - I hear Nick Carter's website hosts some fascinating topics for discussion.
Now, then. This movie is a complete travesty to anyone who has ever loved, enjoyed, or kinda liked anything in Dr. Seuss's entire library. The film was marketed for kids (the books were meant for children 7 and under), but I'm pretty sure that lines delivered from children about burning taiwanese parliament members and punchlines like "stupid hoe!" (ha ha) aren't very welcome at the Saturday Night family popcorn gathering. I expected a fun, charming movie and ended up explaining some really awkward situations to my 5 year old niece.
Despite any of that, this movie still sucks completely and utterly. Mike Meyers is funny as hell, and this movie doesn't capture that at all; I felt at worst ashamed for him and at best uncomfortable... no laughs here.
Awful writing and acting, and direction and production that will go down in history books for the sheer immensity of its failure (this movie won several razzie awards including, I kid you not: Award for worst film made in the 25 years of the Razzie Award!!).
Do yourselves a favor and avoid this collossal flop.
