Did anyone else just burst out laughing at the twist?

It was so ridiculous I just started laughing at how ridiculous it was. I don't understand how people can say this is a good film.

reply

Yes it got slightly humorous here, but over all the film was quite clever and entertaining.

I actually thought the twist while being a little random and my initial reaction was to find it lame, once the movie fully ended i actually thought the twist really worked. It made you think and my friend and i started discussing it and as we did i found it actually really effective. I liked this film! I really enjoyed the twist.

Ridiculous is truly the word, i really felt tricked into watching such a worthless movie. Im giving this one a 5, and it's only as high as a five because it could've been slightly *beep* executed, but the worst part is for sure the plot. And even though i enjoy alot of these actors, almost none of them delivered. Cusack was good and Liotta was allright too, pretty much the rest of the crowd sucked.

And people compare to Shutter Island, which is far from the best movie i've seen, but it beats this one greatly. As it's been stated, the twist was released and then i just wanted the movie to end. I never felt anything like that in Shutter Island, which also contained alot more qualitative acting.

I didn't laugh, just thought "wow really, that's it?" One of the stupidest movies I've ever seen.

Two things i don't understand. The kid, who he is? The Malcolm Rivers younger? And the other, the deads of the beginning the movie and the others who occurs in the motel are the related?

when you watch this movie in 2010 though it was released in 2003,the twist will be a bit funny because tons of movie with similar plot released during the time. But while I watch this movie around 2003-2004 the twist was unexpected and I liked it very much.I want to give an example like Psycho which was released in 1960's was a very frightening film at that time and I have heard that many people were afraid to take shower because of the shower scene. But when the film was re run at around 2010 most of the people were laughing in the theater during the shower scene. The shower scene is not frightening to them because the gore and scary factor of the movies of now a days is more than that of psycho. But you and i know that whatever the people of now a days think,it won't affect the legendary factor of this movie.

The guy was the kid. He killed all those people and took their identities. It started when he was in the back seat and his mother goes back further into the street and gets hit by the limo. That was the first time the guy killed someone. He apparently liked it after that and started to enjoy killing the others, but each time he killed he took another identity from them.

It got so bad that they put him in the hospital but they could not figure out what he was talking about because they found no bodies. So this guy or kid killed them and disposed of them good enough, not to be found. So for probably up to 25 years he was in the hospital, and this movie is just explaining how this guy was put their.

They were interviewing the guy and all that was happening in the movie was just him going through it all over again in his head. That is why John Cusack saw that guy in the mirror, and then back and forth and back at the motel. I thought it was a awesome way to explain this guys mind and what he kept thinking about all this time.

They could of just started with the guy at the beginning and then showed him being transferred and then strangling the guy and losing control of the vehicle, and take the rest of the movie out, but that would be a short instead of a movie. So they added what he was thinking when he killed those people.

You can hate this movie all you want but the way it was all explained was awesome to me, and pretty creepy to have a kid start his kill spree this way. They said there was no proof of the bodies or these people and they think it was all in his head.

No more IMDB boards for me!

The short answer would be No. I really enjoyed the film.

It was a cleverly written movie, competently shot, awesomely acted movie that keeps you on the edge of the seat... till the end.
My god why, it was going perfectly, you could have ended it when she finds the last key, the "1" being an "I" and therefore being his true identity BUT NO, you have to ruin with a completely out-of-nowhere twist which we had absolutely no clue it was going to happen, didn't add anything to the story and just the idea of it was ridiculous.

During the movie I was like "Yeah, I wonder what would be my reaction if it was the kid... but naaah they're not that stupid to do that."
And at the end *beep* YOUUUUUUUU!! What are you dumb? Idiots."

Anyway, for the solid buildup, I'd give it 3/4 stars.
