Blasphemy

*beep* 'J' 'C'!"??? The movie was awesome until I was forced to change the channel. Why would they ruin a good movie with that one line - not to mention the other racial slurs; sitting in prison, anyone would recant those statements, I would hope.

Your arrogant sense of entitlement is mind boggling. There's a whole world of people and minds that do not recognise your little "bubble of reality" as true. Can ideas so intractable and unquestionable be the product of anything but fear?

The character blasphemes, yes, but that doesn't make the movie itself blasphemous. Would you stop reading the Bible, just because there are characters in them who blaspheme? Judas springs to mind, who betrayed God for profit.

25th hour, in a way, is a modern retake of Crime and Punishment. I am not the biggest fan of Spike Lee, but this is a gem.

Who gets offended by this in 2013? It might as well be "F the Easter Bunny" at this point.

To the OP: stick to teletubbies and sesame street and whatever rainbow pie in the sky bullsh*t it is that you watch. This is one of the greatest films I have ever seen. Anyone who appreciates art and film knows this is a masterpiece.

Totally agree, if you can't watch this scene (and take it in context) you are either very ignorant, stupid, or a religious/Christian fanatic.

The character is having a moment of crisis, realizing "F everyone, then at the end F me" realizing he's screwed up and headed for prison lifestyle. He blames all things outside of himself in society and at the end, after ranting and blowing off his anger and steam, blames HIMSELF, not "JC".

This is one of the most amazing scenes I've experienced, it's truly touching, and as a Italian with Christian views (sorta) I was not "disrespected" or felt this was "Spike Lee being racist or a biggot, etc"...... You must be retarded to interpret it that way.

I was laughing about "the Italian's and their Jason Giambi bat's and greasy hair" or whatever the hell... haha, and I am Italian. Of course, I am in SoCal, and visited New York (family there) and it's true. People confuse racism with sociological facts. And because it's in such a rage and angry scene, people interpret as if it's "Evil" for that character to say "*beep* JC" at the time... really? Haven't we all felt that way at ONE point in our lives, or something close to it?

I mean by the end of the rant any non-retarded person can see that Norton's character goes "No... No... *beep* ME" for all his actions and stops blaming the outside world for his stupid decisions and problems. To really turn this film off after this scene shows you are stuck in a bubble or simply a retard.

PS: This is Spike Lee's best film and best scene, as I'm not huge on Spike Lee (Bedazzled is aight and that Turtorro film was classic).

I agree with him, JC can suck a fat one.

What a bunch of wusses. Pick a bigger target, momma's sissy boys. Attacking Catholicism was cool 500 years ago when you could have actually burned for it. Nowadays only losers bother. Bullied at school much, oh ye so rational thinkers?

Jesus Crap, what a classic echo chamber. Even the most deranged of you KNEW in the back of your mind that you were responding to a troll post, but that didn't matter to you at all. Rofl
