my favourite line, how about you?

my favourite line was when Peter was dressed up in all the clothes he bought from the other black dudes, and he is in the room talking to Howie, and Howie says
"you lookin like all kinds of stupid" and Peter says in a way he thinks is slang.
"really? well i got this outfit from your mama!"

i thought it was hilarious!!

how about you guys? whats your favourite line or part?

ps: i don't know if i got the line exactly right, correct me if i'm wrong.

"Fame is a fickle friend Harry, Remember...Celebrity is as celebrity does"

I thought that the line steve martin says to the bitchy sister to his ex while at the pool "why don't you go back to the vodka bottle you crawled out of?" line was HILARIOUS! also the whole sequence when she asks charlene for a drink at the restaurant! GREAT movie!

Mrs. Arnez: Fo sheezy, Homey!

Howard: The cool points are out the window and she's got me all twisted up in the game.

When you think about howard's part it really makes sense. I also love the part which is around the same time that Mrs. Arnez says, " Fo Sheezy, Homey!" that she asks about a 24 hour diner because she was so hungry and she had the munchies because she was high. That was absolutely hilarious!

Peter to Charlene as he is first opening the door to meet her. He is holding 2 champagne glasses and says "Would you like some Champ....poo?"

My favorite lines were:

" I got this outfit from your mama"
and

This movie was funny :)

I'm out like a fat kid in dodgeball!!!

This movie had so many. I guess that's why I enjoy watching it.

"What up though(sp?), where them bagels at?"
"I hope you like cham...poo."
"If I have a broom, it's only because I'm here to sweep up the white trash."
"They got any hot wings around here?"
"Ashley, who are you doing here?"
"Hey neighbor...what's up?" (spoken by a girl who's with her friends as they leave the house par-tay to Bette White's character).
"Rolex." "I did time, baby, but I ain't do the crime."
"I thought I heard negro."

And of course, my favorite is when Charlene is outside Peter's office and she and Peter's assistant are arguing and you can hear them over the intercom:

"Listen, I don't know who you are."
"I don't know who YOU are."

Then as Charlene enters Peter's office...

"B!tch, you know me now, huh?"

Howie (to Charlene): "I'd like to dip you in Cheese Whiz & spread you over a Ritz cracker."

Peter (to his ex-wife, & sarcastically referring to her young boyfriend): "Have fun on your statutory weekend."

reply

This is my favourite!!

Ashley: What is she doin' here?
Charlene: Oh, get used to it, twiggy; you're gonna be seein' a lot more of me around here!
Ashley:Not without a broom in your hand.
Charlene Morton: If I HAVE a broom, it's only cuz I'm here to sweep up the white trash!

Queen latifah is effing funny

what does Shaniquah mean i dont get why ashely said that to charlene.........what does it mean?

reply

More then one line but I about died laughing when Peter closes the door on her and she says " you rude Mutha F" and he closes the peep hole before she finishes the last word, he goes upstairs to undress and she's out on the lawn
" It's your Baby Peter, The DNA Test told on you !! Lil Kareem doesn't want your child support, he just wants a relationship with his White Daddy. A little Chocolate and Vanilla swirl , I didn't care if your lil thing was curved, and she add's "That magical night at the Crack House" hahahahahahahaha

This movie was soo darn funny. I never thought of it as being racist. Should we say it was racist because she said White Daddy, or White Trash, or You're not White ( to steve in his new office) How about Wasp? I never heard that term being used towards caucasin's actually way back when it meant someone from a certain country. Wait that guy even called Peter " MILK" when he found the party at his house and went to go in and the guy said he didn't care if he was Halle Barry, he had to pay .... BUT I'm sure it wasn't meant to be offensive I'm white ( well actually pinkish, tannish LOL) and I didn't find it racist when those things were said like White Trash. GOOD GRIEF.. Let it go! It's funny ,it meant no harm, it only meant to give us some entertainment at NO ONE"S expense ! ( but what it cost me to buy the movie ;p) hehe

It's just a typically (ludicrous to uptight white folks) latter-day fancy African-derived black girl's name.

My favourite line was in the b***h fight in the changing rooms with Queen Latfiah and the other woman, i think she kick queen and says 'Complements of Tae-Bo 2 hours a week'and when Queen Latifah then dips her head down the toilet and hangs her up on the peg and says 'Comlements of the hood, 24 hours a day, All My Life!!!!' I think that that line is just so funny and that is probably one of the best scenes in the film. It is pure Brilliant!!!!

Ok my all-time favorite line(s) was when Charlene was out on the lawn yelling at Peter about Lil' Kareem. Here is what the whole thing is:

"It's your baby, Peter! And don't you deny it! That DNA test told on you! You lie,Peter! You know Lil'Kareem is yours! WHY?! How you gonna do me like that Peter?! You told me I was your beautiful African Queen! And I loved you for that, Peter! I didn't care if your lil' thing was curved and Lil' Kareem don't want your child support. He just want a relationship with his white daddy! A little chocolate/vanilla swirl from that magical night at the crackhouse!"

^^^I sat and laughed my a$$ off for the longest time!

The IM conversation that Peter and Charlene are having in the beginning, when Charlene was saying what she did yesterday, it actually makes sense that she is in prison like put all the information together and it actually sounds like a typical day in prison or out of prison.

I just love this movie, like in the beginning of the movie Peter is correcting Howie's english and then at the end he is speaking slang at the Down Low. It shows how much people can grow and learn from other people to better themselves.

There was a person on here that was wondering why Kate came home early. I think that beacause of what Ashley told her on the phone about Charlene.

More Quotes I love!!:

Charlene: "Oh look at all of these pretty candles all romantic and sh*t. Someone was planning on getting some booty tonight."

Charlene: "Bump that. Shoot, Roscoe cracked that door, I kicked it off the heezy and bounced. For real tho."

Charlene:"But, uh, look, don't be gettin' no ideas about sneakin' up in here and hittin' this ass, 'cause you blew your chance with this fine sister."
Peter:"Dare to dream."
Charlene: "Tsk, please"

Ashley:"Don't be good."

Howie:"Oh,Swing it, you Cocca Goddess"

Charlene:"This is who I am. I mean, you think I can't talk like you? Oh, Peter, I absolutely love what you've done with the place! It's so sterile, so--bland, so wonderful!"
Peter:"See? You can do it."
Charlene:"Oh, you like that, huh? Well, you can kiss my natural black ass, because I don't need your approval."

I don't know about favorite line but my favorite part was definatly the part where Charlene (Queen Latifah) was beating that Ashley up in the house or w/e it was. And it was hilarious when Charlene was trying to get Steve Martins Character to start talkin'. And also it was funny when that Mrs. Arnez was like "Everyday after supper we would take all the food we didn't eat off our plates and put it all on one plate and give it to the maid." I have so many favorite parts

reply

Well I know that many people may have found this part racist or inappropriate but I do think it was justified as it was used to make fun of the old lady with ridiculour stereotyped views.

My fav part, so much that with the reactions on the face of Queen Latifa, etc.. I could not stop laughing.
It is when the older lady is over for dinner and is talking about her "nanny" that brought her up and she says, "we paid her nothing you know." She then continues to sing the song her families' slaves used to sing when they came in from the field, "Is my master going to sell me tomorrow."
In any other context these lines would be not only racist but also indignant but it works in this comedy with Queen backing them and working off of them. I don't think it is racist at all when it is used to demean the racist character.
Anyway, I noticed nobody said that scene and that was the only one that got me laughing so hard at how ridiculous it was.

This movie is racist, or has racist comments but it's all on purpose. i.e When Steve Martin goes to the club and buys the clothes off the black guys..and the way he speak...very clever satire.

reply

my two are when Steve Martin was like "Oh Ashley! Who are you doing here?" and when Mrs. Arness started singing that song about the slave trade.. that whole scene was hilarious...

reply

"I can't tell you cause if I do gangsters will come to my house and cut Me"- Ashley

Lots of funny stuff, but the one that makes me shoot wine out of my nose is when Joan Plowright as Mrs. Arness is served her "Seven and Seven, make it a double" at the Down Low, picks the stir stick out of it, and tosses it away. Watch it again. She is disgusted with her kidnapping and she is simultaneously tossing away her self-righteous attitude. Just a gorgeous piece of acting.
