The problem with the movie is that it's an art house film made by a big studio, had a big budget, and marketed to mainstream audiences. If it were directed by Jim Jarmusch and starred art house actors, no one would have a problem with it.
I put it into my Netflix queue after hearing all the backlash about Affleck playing Batman and people claiming it would be a disaster and citing Gigli as a shining example of Affleck's "horrible" acting. The movie was not only nowhere near as horrible as it's reputed, it was actually pretty good. Sometimes I just don't understand people. I mean we all seem to love the dark side of life so much that a movie like this is reviled in droves? And probably reviled more by reputation than by people who actually ever saw it. If you saw it and hated it? Fair enough, I'll agree to disagree, after all, that is a matter of taste, but if you hate it without watching it? Yup you fall into the sheeple category.

The plot? Is there even a plot? What is going on? Or is it just an excuse to show off Bennifer?
The tempo! For a movie with many things going on at the same time , it is surprisingly slow. An editor with feeling for tempo could at least made it somehow exciting to watch.
Justin Bartha. Just to painful to watch. Not even funny, more like mocking.
Al Pacino! What was that all about? What's the point of having him? Why was he even worse than Bennifer combined?
The dialogue: Uh, a discussion about the penis and vagina and who has the better function. Great!
But the biggest problem is probably it's total unrealism. Like J.Lo's character. So here she is, a tough lesbian with an even tougher ex-girlfriend. Claiming that no man is tough enough.
Yet somehow this tough lesbian falls in love with a guy, and even sleeps with him. And then all of a sudden it's back to guys for her.
Really? Since when? I know that romance movies are always unrealistic but this was one was over the top, even for romance genres.
If you like it then fine. To each his own. But there is a reason why this is one of the worst films ever made. Not only by critics but by audience to.
Hell, I bet even Affleck and J.Lo are ashamed of it.

I haven't even watched this movie but just reading the plot makes me realize that I never want to it sounds like the worst movie ever made. its sounds so bad I think I may just schedule a colonoscopy just incase I get to bored one day and find myself looking hey I haven't seen gigli before.

95% of the people who say this is the worst movie ever made have never even seen it. just my opinion. And for the record....saw it in the movie theatre & enjoyed it. I even remember my local paper in Pittsburgh PA reviewing the movie when it was released & giving it 3 stars out of 4. Roger Ebert 2 and 1/2 stars out of 4. Hardly the worst film ever!

Follow the crowd? Never heard of that movie, just say it for the first time on TV - it is so horrible. Afflecks acting looks like he was drunk and didn't give a *beep* Lopez could have been replaced with a mannequin. The whole script is like a crossover of an retarded version of Chasing Amy (in which he starred also) and a raped version of Hudson Hawke.
Trust me, I just saw it for the first time, didnt even know it existed and it really is one of the worst flickes EVER.
Reading here that Pacino that Pacino actually praised the director makes me think less of him. Then again, its really the actors and the script, I guess the director was as good a a cheap sandwich at Arby's - it ain't gonna kill you instantly.
