Stupid ratings
What people don't understand is that you should rate movies based on their entertainment value WITHIN IT'S CATEGORY.
Sure, a movie like xXx isn't a deep story with a tale of freedom like the Shawshank Redemption. Triple x movies don't even have a plausible plot to go with.
Guess why? Because they're *action movies*. You don't watch action movies for a deep plot. You watch an action movie because of the ACTION. Just like you watch a comedy movie for the LAUGHS.
IMDb ratings lose credibility when nerds rate anything that doesn't conform to their philosophical standards of a "deep storyline" to 5 stars out of 10. If a movie isn't tagged with Drama/Thriller/Murder Mystery, it's not supposed to have a *beep* plot!
Why don't I just go and rate every Conan O'Brien episode a 1/10 due to a lack of storyline? Or maybe it deserves a higher score because it does what it's meant to do: Make people laugh?
