Dont know why Hopkins wasnt at least considered for this performance as he was just as good if not even better.

Maybe if he didn't win for Silence of the Lambs it would have been a consideration. It seems like the award shows like to spread the wealth and, frankly, a reprise of a role with no real development seems like a waste of an award. I won't go as far as to say that Hopkins is a one trick pony when it comes to Hannibal Lecter but it sure does feel that way.

He was noticeably older in this movie, which was supposed to occur years before Silence of the Lambs

Would be a bit strange if he was nominated/awarded for the same character. Has this happened ever before?
