If There Was No Chloe

Clark would've met Lois in the traditional route of meeting her at The Daily Planet as a dork. Same with The Luthors, if Lex and Lionel weren't in town The Kents would have to adopt Clark differently, Clark and Lex wouldn't met and become enemies until he moves to Metropolis as Superman, the romantic transition from Lana to Lois would've played out differently, Clark journey into becoming Superman would've been different.

Without Chloe, I doubt they would've ever met, since Lois only became interested in becoming a journalist due to coming to Smallville on account of her cousin and meeting Clark.

Without Lex and Lionel, Martha and Jonathan probably could've kept quiet about Clark and pretended Martha was legitimately pregnant, then revealed their kid later on. Coz it's not like they had a lot of friends or people coming over to the farm in Clark's youth - woulda caused too much problems, trying to conceal talents they hadn't even discovered for themselves yet.

Lana and Clark still would've broken up imo, but Clark would probably never have truly moved on unless he met someone at the same level of connection that he had with Lois.

Unless Lois became a reporter a different way like in Apocalypse.

Pretending Clark is The Kents' biological son is the newer approach now, would be harder when they find him as a toddler.

Clark would've left to travel the world for several years after high school, probably thinking he was protecting Lana but caused her more grief. Imagine if 4x01 Lois met Clark on his travels in a similar fashion to how they first met on the show but in their 20's and the rest play out like The Blur.

Lois only became interested in reporting because of Chloe, there's no other direct or indirect line as far as I can see to that career path otherwise.

reply

Perhaps being an army brat and travelling the world would contribute interest in reporting or her truth seeking got her notice.

reply

Maybe, but it hadn't up to that point, so I doubt it. She wasn't studying journalism at Met U when she arrived in Smallville, although come to think of it I've never been able to figure out exactly what she was studying, so nothing had ignited that interest for her in the 18 years prior.

Commenter below has pointed out Chloe was intended as a Lois precursor because they didn't have the rights to use Lois until season 4.

Can't use Chloe in any version of Superman now because of copyright and what the actress has done.

There was the BS theory that Chloe was gonna become Lois Lane.

reply

Yeah, I've known that for a while, doesn't negate what I stated. Also, I actually don't think it would've been that strange if Chloe assumed another identity to protect herself - this is a world where Lex doesn't remember who Clark is and everything that's occurred up till the end of the final season, so it's entirely possible and makes a lot more sense she would need to do this, given the multiple attempts on her life.

I like where Chloe's story went, but it wouldn't be that weird if she became Lois.

reply

It was odd to have Lex in Smallville and be friends with Clark when he hates Superman later on, don't know if Lex was suppose to like Clark but hate Superman or know Clark is Superman.

Allison Mack isn't Lois, people expect Lois to be incredibly beautiful like Erica or Teri Hatcher. If Chloe became Lois it would cause a massive outrage. Cause they never a clear trajectory on what was gonna happen to Chloe.

Imagine if the animated sequel happens they could do retcons like write Chloe out because of what Allison Mack has done or give Lana a better post high school life.

reply

Chloe you can tell was created because they did not have the rights to use Lois Lane at the time they created Smallville. She is basically a precursor Lois Lane. Once they got the rights to Lois they retooled her a bit.
