It ruins this movie! Do you Americans notice it? It's horrible, I thought Americans found it difficult doing an English accent, but obviously it works both ways.
I never get in cases like why they don't just tell the actor to use their normal accent: it's not key to the story that he has to be a Yank.
For all we know that was the perfect accent from the universe he originally came from. He's going for gruff and angry. I was paying attention to Jet Li's fight scenes anyway.

It sounds like the Brits who knew him knew he was putting on a Yanks accent and weren't use to it so picked up on it. I thought it was bad. but the Yanks here are saying it was ok and some of them thought he was American.
Wait a sec guys ... Stratham play a fictional character in a movie set in the future, a movie, where people come from different universes with different time lines where in each universe different things happen ... so, how can you complain about an accent being "odd"? That accent might be the actual accent how people ofhis origins speak in his universe! It's that easy! You guys remind me of the "Airport" boards where people claimed that Tom Hanks' accent was "not authenthic" ... how could that be since he is coming from a fictional country that doesn't exist in our world!?
His accent reminded me of Tom Wilkinson's in Batman Begins (which is also a Brit), but I suppose he tried to sound Italian-American. I don't know whether or not it worked, though. ;D
