Top Reasons why people like Vin Diesel

#1. Because they find him atracting. I dont see how. He looks like an ogre. Women are in this catagory.
#2. He comes off as that "bad boy, cool to like" actor, that truthfully cant act even if he was givin with the talent. 13-14 year olds line up in this catagory.
#3. Because he's bulk. I'm sure after the many years spent with his "gym partner" without doing any "gym" activities if you catch my draft, I would say I would be that bulk too. Big bad tough guys fall in this catagory.
#4. Then of course we have the wannabes. Lets like someone our big brother likes so we can hang out with them after school. Little kids here

Bottom line, Vin is garbage, his movies are ungodly terrible, oh and the person who made the remark about this movie being a successful money makin film, you're absolutly right. I'm sure the wannabes and marks are lining up already for tickets for this disasterpeice

PEOPLE LIKE VIN because he is BI-RACIAL and represents the elusive UNITY in american culture. thats the REAL reason. its that vacuum in our society that fuels the psychology behind michael jackson's race-negation.

<ahem>

AND the fact that he is a *beep* stud!!!!

I'll throw in my two cents. Keep in mind I am NOT here to put down on anyone else's opinion, although if you disagree with me, you're wrong... Just kidding.

Anyway, what I truly believe is that Vin Diesel DOES have acting potential. I just think that people don't take him seriously on account of his build. Therefore, the majority of his roles are characters in action flicks.

Anyway, that's my opinion.

reply

Vin Diesel is the epitome of "acting potential". The key word is: potential. If he picked better scripts, he could be very popular with people besides 11-years old guys that actually (God forbid) enjoyed XXX. If A Man Apart can tap into this "potential", and XXX2 gets axed (yeah well it won't, but it should be); Diesel can get a career of better films going.

What are you lookin' at butthead?

Despite what some think about his movies or acting ability, I think Vin is very talented. Before he made it on the big Hollywood scene, he was writing, directing and starring in his own little films. That alone must require some talent. So what if he's currently seen as only a bulked up action star? Look at Stallone. He wrote and starred in Rocky (which won a Best Picture Oscar). The vast majority of his films after that were action vehicles where he played either a cop, a soldier, or a boxer. Rocky and Copland are the 2 movies that come to mind were he actually ACTS. Kurt Russell started off as a Disney kid actor and has made his share of crap, but has also made some candy too. More often than not, regardless of the movie he puts in a good performance. Dark Blue was a fine dramatic performance for him, I thought. Most of the time you can tell if an actor can truly ACT if he is in a role or a movie that calls for him to act (in the dramatic sense). anyone can jump around shooting guns and blowing up stuff.

reply

ahhh waste o'time
why write about actors you don't like??
are you that damn boring?
keep in mind this is to all of those complaining about deasel not just nightngale!

Psst, his real name is Mark "Vincent".

Voice.

Everyone keeps going on and on about his ability to act or lack there of, and whether or not he's sexy (which, from as far as I can tell on this list, is a unanimous "yes" from the females and "no" from the males), but I think everyone is missing his greatest quality. His voice.

I'm not surprised he became an action star. He has a really great body. But I am surprised he didn't get his start in radio. Of course, he did do the voice of the giant in The Iron Giant, which I think was completely appropriate.

And if he had less of a body he still would have been a huge success as a 900 line operator.

Vin Diesel: Hes a man like most of u sept he has been totaly over rated. Hes a man who some how works well with the big screen even though he probably won an acting diploma at a fun fair or summin. Saving Private ryan hes was just there, He was one of the guys in the team, I diddnt see him asa bad actor but he was doing nothing special and now when he becomes the lead of a bunch of films he is still doing nothing special, I can predict that soon this "Actor" will want to do a independant film or have a samll role in some drama where he dies and "Acts" really well and im even thinking that Vin Diesel is some sort of robo that was created and someone said "I know lets get him to write some crappy films then everyone will think hes smart, Then we can get him in some small roles then BAM he will be the lead actor in every film ever made"

IN SHORT: this man doesnt deserve the respect he is getting from people even if he did work his way up the ladder like all actors, I promise you if Vin was slightly half cast or some lanky dude people woulndt give a damb about him.

P.S please dont lt any replys to this get personal, Im not trying to start a fight.

FAST AND THE FURIOUS IS THE SAME MOVIE AS POINT BREAK. HE'S AN IDIOT, KOCKEROUND GUYS SUCKED BECOUSE VIN WAS IN IT, HE DOESN'T EVEN LOOK LIKE HE KNOWS HOW TO HOLD A GUN IN THAT MOVIE. XXX WAS HORRID. THAT REASON ENUFF FOR ME TO REALIZE THAT THE ONLY REASON HE KEEPS COMING AROUND IS BECUASE MOST GIRLS ARE STUPID AND HAVE NO TASTE IN MOVIES. THEY JUST THINK HE'S HOT.

I'm glad I got that out. Before you Vin fans start calling me dumb or whatever your 14 year old combacks are. Like I don't see you in a movie. lol well let me tell you that i've been in a 2 year class where I was taught by a guy who's name is listed on this very web site. Scott Spears. I've made 30 movies on my own and won an awards for some of my work. I've also been in a Independant movie witch I also worked on. I make a living off of free lance editing and I know that's more than the most of you have ever done. Unless you don't like Vin of course.

You've just been owned-Chris Jones

reply

ChrisJones_Film--I don't neccesarily believe your statement about all the movies you have written and awards you have received. I have found a dozen or so spelling and grammar mistakes in your reply. Wouldn't a moviemaker at least know how to write properly?

Well anyway, as for Vin Diesel, can't we all just get along? This is nothing to get all worked up about. Everyone should all just "take a couple hits" and calm down a little. We should all love eachother, especially in times of peril and war.

I thank everyone for their time.

Dude, Chris...you're stupid. Forgetting all the spelling and gramatical errors..you say you've been in a two year class and have made 30 movies of which you've won "an awards" for?? Some directors who have been around for much longer than you haven't even made 30 movies; such as Tim Burton. Martin Scorsese who has been around since 1959 making some short films and such has made roughly 35 movies. Before you make a ridiculous claim...think...it might help.

reply

Chris jones man i really think when you mouth off about things you should know what your talking about.

I have just came back from seeing "man a-part" yeah i agree with people on this board it is a remake of a mix of films and i personally thought it was very dull a little like you. As other have said each to there own and things i also agree. Then you stomp in with your BOLD inface change that to BULL statement. Made over thirty films dont make me laugh, in a course yeah so is a lot of people i have been in film and media courses for over 4 years and then i landed a job with warners and you know how many movies i have made 6699.... ok well ive had a hand in about 6, one by myself and the rest collaborations with class mates, so before you become all high and mighty about your awards, we also won them for best short film made by film students in the area. Awards and accolades are not nothing as they are handed out like candy. until you make some money and at least are talked about in some society other than your local mall i suggest you shut up, thats they way it is put up or shut up!!!!

so dude the only thing chris jones has conquered is the right ole title of
egotistical muppet of the week.

this is my opinon and if you dont like it well that just makes another person

I agree in part... he's not a very good actor and all he has is muscle and mass(steroids maybe?) but probably not cause he's not that cut really. That's about all he is, however, it's fun to watch him in some movies. I loved Boiler Room and Pitch Black. I didn't hate Knockaround Guys or whatever but it wasn't great. Anyway, yes he's garbage and he's no Brad Pitt but you gotta have a guy in the movies who's not 6 feet 150 pounds like Brad Pitt. Yeah, I cringe when I hear a girl say he's hot, but I also cringe when they say Eminem and NSync are hot too, lol. But it's all good. I'm not jealous.

reply

I think the problem here is that too many people allow their like or dislike for an actor or role to cloud their judgement.

For example: Arny in the Terminator movies. The Terminator is cool. he dresses cool. He is cold as ice and bullet-proof, so - role is good. But I can't think of many people that could seriously argue that Arny ACTED especially well in the role. Delivering lines in a near-monotone, and cracking the occasional wry smile is unlikely to garner Oscars.

I thought Vin Diesel was convincing in Pitch Black, even better in Boiler Room, and did a credible job with the testosterone-flushed mentality of TFATF. However, I thought "XXX" was poor. I thought the direction was choppy and ineffective (I agree with the comment earlier in the board that this film was butchered, in part, to hit a ratings mark). I do, however, believe that this film would have been greatly improved by better scripting, rather than trying to cash-in on a youth 'jargon' to make the film appealing to youngsters.

I defend Vin D's right to choose this movie - every actor needs to make money, just look at the 'action' fodder that Bruce Willis engages in between classics like Twelve Monkeys and Sixth Sense.

Feel free to dislike an actor or actress, just don't pretend that you are discussing their ability.

Also - notice that most of the people that make a point of his 'not being hot' are guys? Deny it or not, that sounds like jealousy to me.

reply

I think Vin's beautiful myself, but I can see why others don't. It's not like there's a beauty rulebook somewhere (not for men, anyway). As far as being a movie star, I think he's not an unreasonable choice for the job -- he's got size, he moves well, he has tons of presence, and he can deliver a line competently most of the time. As an action star, his crummy diction isn't even really a problem. There are a lot worse out there. But I go see his movies just because he's fun to watch.

And if Vin shows up in a silly movie like "A Man Apart," where his supposedly heroic character mostly stumbles around getting other people killed, well, he's still fun to watch. There are worse qualifications for being a movie star than that.

reply

1. He has a beautiful deep sexy voice.
2. He has a sexy big smile.
3. He has a sexy big body.
4. He can act, have you seen Boiler Room or Pitch Black?
Both are good movies and he does well in them.

A lot of new actors get put in silly roles in the beginning most people are intelligent enough to forgive the actor for the role if they do a good job with it. As for the ogre comment, I would like to see your picture and comment on you. Women (most of us) do not want a picture perfect Clark Kent look alike we want someone who is unique. A crooked smile, a single dimple, an imperfect nose, or a scar on the chin are all attractive features when on the right person. Perfect drives us crazy. If Vin is an ogre then I would hate to see what you would be called.

reply

Bottom line:
1. Vin is dug by women because of the bad boy image and the fact that he's a big guy.

2. Most guys don't like Vin because they don't like the way their girlfriends drool over him on screen.

3. XXX was garbage, rollercoaster ride or not. Pitch Black was fun to watch and A Man Apart was entertaining as well. Good point made though about Keanu Reeves. He can't act his way out of a paper bag...and he has the Matrix series.

Hollywood is exactly what everyone expects it to be. Decaf half-whip extra shot mocha lattes, oxygen bars, flavored waters, and image conscious peeps. It's a fun place to go (especially Sunset blvd) but it can end just like that for most of these actors/actresses. Enjoy their movies/garbage while you can because tomorrow they will be done. (Van Damme, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Even Stallone just released a straight-to-video action movie)

reply

Most people who dont like Vin Diesel say its because he is a horrible actor. Diesel is no Pacino, but he isnt horrible. Boiler Room was a good movie with a good supporting role by Diesel. FATF was good too, XXX was one BAD...but not because of Diesel. The girl was less than average, and the movie was too hyped to come out of without being disappointed. The four reasons of why people like Vin Diesel may have been writtin by a #2 reason in denial.

reply

My feelings about Vin Diesel aside, Nightngale, your point would come across a lot better if you thought about spell/grammar check before sending your posts...

Oh, and for the record...Vin Diesel ROCKS!! :)

reply

It gets old when people resort to talking *beep* on spelling/grammar. Last time I checked this was just a message board.

reply

Sure it is, but at least you spelled everything right...

reply

Why does everyone care about spelling. I can't spell for crap and I'm a relatively intelligent person, I just don't care. Spelling is for people with nothing to do as far as I'm concerned. And best Vin Diesel role is defiately The Iron Giant.

reply

Before I post my first message, let me clarify a few things.
1: I'm female
2: I'm 19
3: I do not pointlessly argue in the vain hope that someone will actually be persuaded by the "is not"/"is so" theory
4: I LOVE watching movies, and that, frankly is a lot more fun than criticising them

Ahem. I think Vin Diesel is exceptionally hot. I personally love to see muscles on a guy, and the taller, broader shoulders, etc helps. That's just me. When I went to see XXX, there were a LOT of people in the cinema, and for the first time that I've seen during an action flick, nearly half the audience were female. Go action sales, go! :) I like: Action, Comedy, Romance, Thriller, Spy, Murder-Mystery, Sci-Fi, Drama, and combinations. Not necessarily in that order. That's just me. I am a HUGE action fan, and I thought, from that point of view, that XXX was great. If you're after a STORYLINE that is GREAT, you do NOT go to Action films. Duh. I love Action, and I accept this fact. You can too.
What I DO NOT LIKE AT ALL is people telling me to not see a film. You should tell me what you thought of it, and if there was anything you liked. Otherwise, when I don't see it at the cinema, or hire it, and only eventually see it on SatTV. Then love it, then get ticked off at the narrow-minded retard who obviously doesn't know what the heck they're talking about when it comes to what I like, who was the reason I didn't see the big explosions on a huge screen.
You don't like a film? FINE! I actually don't like some films, too! You don't like an actor? WHAT?! fair enough in a few cases, but mostly: get a life. I can agree that some performances are better than others, and that some actors are better than others, but never, NEVER choose films depending on who's in them. ugh (unless it's, no - they were good in some films)
IronGiant,PitchBlack,BoilerRoom,SavingPrivateRyan,TheFast&TheFurious,XXX. I liked all of them. I watched TheFastAndTheFurious just because it was on, and I like VinDiesel. Turns out.... I liked it. *gasp* eh? who'd of thought? Even with only one muscle car (which was utterly wrecked)!

One more thing. Obviously XXX is a not-Bond flick, but there's one DAMN GOOD REASON I'll watch XXX over Bond. What did XXX's car look like at the end of the film? That HOTHOTHOT GTO? It was FINE, they didn't blowup/crush/scratch the thing. And that's enough for me, thank-you-very-much.

Well, hello again, 1973!
I don't know a lot about cars, but that was very nice.
white trash still, eh?
By the way, it's a brick house, on a 4 1/2 acre block, with an inground pool, if you're gonna judge people by where they live.
Try once in a while to see past the single parts to the whole.
You don't like VD. Fine, I do. I don't think you're a certain type of person for it, though.

Ah, little spoiled rich girl who thinks it's cool to be ghetto! I knew you'd have another title for me :)
I don't care what other people think is cool, cos I've noticed that other people seem to think that smoking is cool, and getting retardedly drunk is cool, and so on. Anyway, I already told you I ain't into the whole ghetto thing, ugh.
I ain't spoiled, either, that's for sure! But you should meet my cousins, they're both spoiled, rich, bitches, only childs, conceited, and they DO think it's cool to be "not rich" looking, and are happy to be rich enough to do it! >:(
ahem. sorry bout that.

DAMNATION!!! WHY SHOULD I DO WHAT YOU WANT, EH? HUH?!
How's that, sweetie?
I LIKE to argue, and I LIKE to fight, but fighting with words is pointless! If you wanna actually fight with me, fine, but till that day presents itself, I will continue to ARGUE!!!
Anyway, just cos I don't agree with you,(on this matter) doesn't mean you're COMPLETELY void of intelligence!!! :)
I'm sarcastic, I'm fun, I like to be entertained, and... well, I'm in Australia, so I doubt you're ability to meet me and find out if I'm worth being mad at!

Besides which, aren't you tired of having replies that consist completely of "immature/jealous/inferior" etc. comments?
One person here said that he loks like an ogre. I read that, thought about it, and told them - you're absolutely right, he DOES, I still like him, but I see your point.
I will occasionally label people by a single fact about them, but it's not normally something like what movie stars they're into, but something that shows a lack of intelligence, or that they're annoying, etc.

ahem.
why don't you want me to be nice?

Let's work as a team and do it MY WAY

Who's the real loser? Vin Diesel who earns 15 million a movie, or you, a saddo who spends all his time on the various boards of an actor he despises?

reply

Vin Deisel needs to lose the ego. He's been in hollywood not too long and shouldnt have damanded 20 million dollars so soon...
It's great that he's representing himself as a multiracial action star, but he has talent, and should express it rather than do lame films just for the money.. it all can go away in an instant.
Oh, and Vin looks nothing like an ogre. he's beautiful.. u think you look better than him??
