Did anybody else feel this way?

I was explaining to my friend about the film and i explained it as, It was the type of movie that you walk away from saying "It was the stupidest, strangest, dumbest move but some how, I loved it. I don't have any clue in hell how i love this film but i love it"

Does anybody else feel like they don;t know how in the world they like the movie but do anyway. That is how i feel. Honestly, it is one of my favorite movies and my favorite comedy.

Let me know!

I don't know why I loved it, but it sucked me in, it was the very last scene when there all flying on ice skates lol, that's my favorite scene in whole movie

reply

I love Robin Williams, but I thought this movie was a monumental piece of $h!t. I kept waiting for the film to grab me, but it never did. I only laughed once or twice. I was left totally unfulfilled.

reply

Although, like i said, i loved the movie, i can totally see where you are coming from. I actually found the fact that it was such an uncharacteristic role for Williams which got me interested.

A friend found the right word for the movie IMHO, "underappreciated"

reply

why is that anytime that anyone does not like the movie... it is the fault of the movie, and not the viewer?

Huh? You expect people to say, "I didn't like it, but I'm an idiot, so what the hey!"

reply

Feralucce, i understand completely and i agree.

Some just dont think, i guess.

When we like something, we like it.
but when some folks dont like something, they go around complaining, and get mad at others for not disliking it with them.

They find it very hard to realize people have very different taste in film, and that anything said whether positive or negative ... is only an oppinion.

and since theyre not fast enough to understand that, they tend to want to argue with anyonw who says different than them.

I'd have to agree with the polarization comment. In probably everyone's post on this thread are the words "love" and "hate" respectively describing the movie.

I sort of know what you mean, wink. It's dumb and weird, but oddly hilarious.
But more than that I love this movie because of the irony... I love mob movies and this was a funny twist.

reply

its a its a its a rocket!, that is all you need to know about this movie. It is a very dark movie set in a world that deals with children, I think that may have unnerved some people, but I think that this movie is grossly underrated, I agree that it does polarize people, who those people are I don't know. I am going on a safari *beep* safari!

It was that on purpose, that's why it's so funny. At least that's how I see it and lots of other movies that do the same. Even Conan O'Brien is that to me. It's so stupid that it's almost bad but they know it and do it on purpose and that's what makes it funny.

Its like Baseket ball or this rather stupid english comedy series 'Time gentlemen please' - it's so stupid that you just can't help yourself. Like clown porn, you know its wrong and disturbing but you just can't stop looking at it - a trin wreck if you will....BUT, I don't feel like that with this movie, I think this is a great movie, I just identify with what you are talking about.

It vexes me. I'm terribly vexed

Wait wait wait...did someone up there compare this move to clown porn? Did I read that right?

reply

Yeah, that would be me, but not the movie the whole "this is stupid but I can't stop watching" thing - like the donky show in clerks II. I'm not an authority on clown porn though, just to make that clear!

I'm not even gonna point out the irony.

Death to Smoochy is almost the worst movie I have ever seen. I can't believe all these great actors signed up to make this piece of turd. And by the by, appreciating a movie has everything to do with what the viewer thinks. It is always the movie-makers fault if you don't. That's why we pay.
Death to Smoochy isn't funny, nor is it ironic (although it tries to be), it just sucks.
You read it here.

I don't want FOP, goddamnit. I'm a Dapper Dan man.

I thought it was would be an ordinary movie, but it cracked me up over and over again. Robin Williams was terrific.

reply

I had to agree. It was one of the strangest movies that I've ever seen and loved every moment of it. I felt the same with "Hudson Hawk."
