It's a shame a family can be torn apart by something so simple as a horde of the undead.

dja09's already suggested some of my favorites.

I would add The Big Kahuna, American Beauty, Cold Turkey, and Smile.

It's an interesting psychological phenomenon.

reply

How can anybody forget "American Beauty"?

Danny DeVito is the king of dark comedies. If you particularly liked "Death to Smoochey," I'd suggest checking out his other directorial efforts, starting with "Throw Momma from the Train" and "The War of the Roses." Hell, even "Matilda" was pretty dark.

Igby goes Down! One of the best dark comedies of all time. The dialouge is fantastic. It's worth checking out N E ways :)

reply

I LOVE Igby Goes Down! Very funny. I'm glad someone also mentioned Heathers. Just saw it today for the first time. Now I know where the "F me gently w/ a chainsaw" line comes from. Mystery solved.

The Weatherman with Nick Cage is excellent.

Tideland

More drama than comedy, but VERY funny--if you find dead bodies funny.

Dogma and the cable guy

So If I hit the bullseye the the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards, checkmate.

How about one of the original dark comedies: "Arsenic and Old Lace". It stars Cary Grant and it is one of the funniest movies ever. It about a man who discovers his darling sweet aunts actually have 12 dead bodies buried in the cellar.
It's so funny!!! You can most likely find it at Blockbuster.

"One of these days, Lizzie, someone will catch your eye and then you'll have to watch your tongue."

'Happiness' has got to be the darkest comedy ever made, i know people who deny they have even seen it incase people get the wrong impression of them, anyone who hasn't seen it should, but don't tell anyone it was me who recommended it!

reply

I agree with the person above who said "Happiness" is one of the darkest comedies ever. Was rather disturbing, watch it if you dare.

One of my favorite dark comedies is "Harold and Maude"- that's a classic.
