How does anyone like this?

I'm honestly at a loss here. I can't fathom how 33.9% of the people who rated this on IMDb gave it higher than a 7. I hated it when I saw it in theaters and finally re-watched it last night, thinking "maybe it wasn't as bad as I remembered".

I'm not looking to insult anyone, I just want to find out what the people who liked it liked about it. I honestly can't find anything enjoyable, except maybe the poor editing choice of cutting to a cow mooing in the middle of Nicolas Cage & Eva Mendes' kiss scene. That and Sam Elliot.

ppl look at it and compare it to the comic; this movie does a better than expectable take on the comic. I don't remember anything about it, other than I thought it was wonderful because it was so in the spirit of the comic.

This movie was so boring. My dad took me to see it after he realised I was bored sat in the house, he was bored also so we just went out and left mom and sister at home.
It wasn't very good at all. We both did not like it. The graphics were terrible, the acting was horrible, the directing was dreadful. Hopefully somebody might reboot it and make a Top 250 film out of it.

I thought it was a good movie. Nic Cage is as good as usual. I enjoyed the movie enough to buy it on DVD, but couldn't even sit thru spider man. I want action and fun in my comic book movies and that is what is given. This movie doesn't rock but it doesn't suck either.

I'm not very critical. I (generally) watch movies for entertainment. I love Nicholas Cage movies since they're just... fun to watch. I don't have to worry about plot because his movies tend to just flow, ya know?

I mean, I wouldn't rate Ghost Rider an 8, even, but I can EASILY kick back, watch it on FX, and chow down on some popcorn.

I thought it was really good!

I just watched it and enjoyed it... yes, some of it was pure cheese, but it was an enjoyable couple of hours and I loved the Hellcycle!

Watched it and loved it! Saw if first showing on opening day! It ranks as my favorite comic book movies. That being said I loved ghostrider since I was 8 years old(I'm 27 now) I've been waiting since 1996 when wizard mag said that savoy pictures(remember them) was working on ghostrider. I know a lot of people don't like it but hey I had a blast!

Nicholas Cage was overacting as always. That guy takes himself way too seriously. That costed a star from me.
The rest, well, what do you expect from this type of movie? At least I was not bored. Not that I was thrilled. I thought Ghost Rider very mediocre, from te beginning until the ending.
Turn your brains off before the movie begins, that's my advise.

it's a fun popcorn film that can be quite entertaining. Just don't watch it with any expectations, cause if you expect this to be on the same level as The Dark Knight or X-Men, you're in for a disappointment.

reply

Dark Knight? Technically much better, but over long and repetitive. Entertaining, but at times plodding. Dark Knight and Ghost Rider. 6.5 and 6.

Dark Knight and Ghost Rider. 6.5 and 6.

So 0.5 points separate the bad acting, writing, and flat out incompetent bad guys of Ghost Rider from the spectacular story, characters, and cast in TDK?

reply

I really liked it. And it's funny cause I don't even like the original Ghost Rider comics that much. I prefer the comics from the 90s where Johnny Blaze isn't Ghost Rider. Plus Sam Elliot rocks!

I actually didn't min dit at all. It was entertaing and a bit cheesy ,but, I still would rate it about a 7. The only thing I didn;t like was that the animation was poorly done but it wasn;t as bad as other movies that have come out even later than this movie. Cage was decent like always, the only movie I have seen with him that I did not like was knowing.

this is almost as bad as elektra and worse than daredevil. the villains were all human form versions of themselves? how lame is that. i thought the point of major motion pictures is the budget to realize the comic book villains in their epic forms? instead we get what is essentially tv-movie level villains, with powers typical from a smallville episode. laaame. there better be a cg blackheart and or mephisto next time.

reply

Yeah, a classic? Of course not. Some weak points. Still, I found it enjoyable, fun, overall, and would give it a 6/10.

reply

I gave it a 3 for numerous Mendes cleavage, a 1 for action, and 1 for laughs

5/10 Ghost Riderrrr!

I like some scenes in Ghost Rider.Even though the dialogue is terrible.I like Donal Logue's acting in it.I kind of like Blackheart,Wessil & the other 2 Henchman. Why'd Blackheart rot everyone in the bar?He had to kill the gang member outside, but not all the people inside, unless theuy were leaving through the front door. Some of the songs are good in it.Why are there no Ghost Rider movie Trading Cards?

I thing it's pretty decent comic book flick. It doesn't take itself too serious and I like that. Casting was good; Nic Cage, although over the top, is still enjoyable to watch; Eva Mendes is more or less your typical hot girl; Sam Elliot was a cool guy... Yes, it has *beep* script, but considering it has overall campy-over the top nature, I don't find it so horrible. Action scenes were cool, the overall gothic-western look is also interesting.. Maybe some people expected more serious tone, more violence or realism, but it was fine for me..

It was terrible, the worst blockbuster superhero movie I've seen. Batman & Robin is better than this movie, while that was also awful it was at least somewhat entertaining and had some cheesy fun to it. Ghost Rider was a big budget campy TV movie.
