I'm honestly at a loss here. I can't fathom how 33.9% of the people who rated this on IMDb gave it higher than a 7. I hated it when I saw it in theaters and finally re-watched it last night, thinking "maybe it wasn't as bad as I remembered".
I'm not looking to insult anyone, I just want to find out what the people who liked it liked about it. I honestly can't find anything enjoyable, except maybe the poor editing choice of cutting to a cow mooing in the middle of Nicolas Cage & Eva Mendes' kiss scene. That and Sam Elliot.
It was fun ... some tired and overused plot points, but that finally ride was hilarious. Flaming motorcycles riding up and down the sides of buildings, say along with me ... .SUPER COOL
Certainly not worth the effort trying to convince you that is was enjoyable, or you convincing me it wasn't.
From what I remember when I saw it in theatres and quite enjoyed it was that the action scenes were just plain cool, Nicolas Cage is always entertaining (you can't deny him that), and it's A COMIC BOOK MOVIE ABOUT A GUY WHOSE HEAD LIGHTS ON FIRE. What were you looking for, realism? It never wanted to be anything but a fun popcorn movie, and that's exactly what it was. True, some horrendous dialogue, but the same can be said for one of my other favorite Marvel adaptations, 2004's The Punisher. Of course, my saying that might upset you Ghost Rider haters as well. (;
"Do you want this body?" "Is this a trick question?" -Ghostbusters
this movie was the opposite of fun. it was painful to watch, in fact most of the actors in the movie looked like they were in pain the entire time. peter Fonda looked like he was wondering how he ended up in this crapfest. words cannot express how horrible this movie was, and there is no need to convince people that it wasnt enjoyable. the movie does a good job doing this on its own.
and just how is a cgi motorcycle riding up a cgi building super cool? elaborate.
I enjoyed the sequence when it was in Batman forever, where it was Val Kilmer driving the batmobile instead of Nicolas cage driving a motorcycle. now, Batman forever was a fun movie. why? because it wanted to be fun. Ghost rider wanted to be a serious comic book drama (of sorts), the fact that you said it was fun proves that it failed. sure, maybe if i was lobotomized i might have found this to be a good movie. but i do not want to waste another two hours of my life on this. no, i dont normally show so much hatred towards movies, i like movies, all sorts of movies. and before i saw this movie i believed that directors generally wanted to make a good movie, putting the quality of the film over the profit they will make off of it. And then Ghost Rider came along... i wish i still had your naivety about movies. i really do...
I wonder how come everyone has their own opinion about things. Aren't we all supposed to think exactly alike and agreed on everything. sarcasm aside i enjoy alot of movies and games that have gotten bad reviews for 1 simple reason we are all different. i dont expect anyone to agree with me.
The way I looked at it, yes, it was a big joke! That was what I found so good, it was kinda lame, in a funny as way. How could anyone think that the producers inteded for this to be a serious comic book drama? The last shot of the movie and the song that comes on in the credits make me laugh a lot.
Have to agree. Just watched it again in the hope it might be better than I remembered but it was just awful. I can't think of a single redeeming feature. May not be the worst film I've seen but certainly in that area.
That is very true... When they decide to adapt Archie into films, they'd better keep the silliness that it is. But when they decide to adapt a story of a man possessed by a demon, often referred to as the Spirit of Vengeance.... I don't really see anything "fun" in it. Which is why this movie failed miserably...
I loved it, best movie I have seen a quite a while. I wasn't expecting too much, but it was better than I expected. Very cool special effects which weren't overdone and didn't detract from the story. The storyline was simplistic but it is based on a comic so no surprise there.
Personally, I loved it. I have loved every Marvel movie that I've seen so far (except Daredevil- it was just ok- and the 2003 hulk, I hated).
I'm not a reader of the comic books (yet) so I enjoyed the storyline of it. Not necessarily the acting/dialog, although the movie could have been darker.
NCIS-Is that anything like CSI? Only if you're dyslexic
I dont understand how movies like this come about, I dont know much, but I do know that whoever didnt decide to just scrap this when all was said and done, well its just sad. Poor Nick.
you know when it first came out, it looked silly to me and very weird to me i didnt plan on seeing it at all two years later i finally decide to watch it and honestly..it wasnt tht bad as everyone says it was actaully really interesting and i liked how everything looked i mean its no spiderman or batman but its pretty good and something new than the other superheros we have out there i dont know in my opinion id give it a 7/10
I'm with you! I like a lot of Nicholas Cage movies -- but as far as this one goes: he looks like he wasn't even trying to turn in a decent acting performance (he could have just called it in on the phone). Yuck!!
